Well I rather do things by myself than have to sit around waiting for my allies to kill everyone as in MW3

Can't be the best at everything & can't always avoid being the worst.
Honestly, it's odd how people get frustrated at how much their team sucks because in reality, you're only as good as your opponents aren't. Getting a 5 KDR against noobs? Must be fun; but that KDR's going to drop down to 1 if you play against people of equal skill.

What do you expect if you don't issue orders? People are absurdly prone to brainfarts and shortsighted. That's why some of the quicker thinking are in command - to space a bit while others freak out locked in present/past, stay focused and sort things out by not letting them get themselves killed but kill those other guys. I personally hate allies in the (generally older?) games (that's not to say I don't enjoy quite a few of them) where you can't tell them to calm the fuck down and move reasonably, reacting to your actions and taking hints instead of wading into the thick of it, getting gunned down because you couldn't even keep up or was doing something else entirely, and prompting "VITAL CHARACTER DIED! MISSION FAILED, U MAD?"

They do kill someone occasionally, especially spider-man wannabees geth. They also distract enemies and their biotic and engineering powers incapacitate enemies and make fights easier.

Simply put, the human element cannot simply be replaced by AI. It can be programmed that one set is stronger than another, though a positive outcome is reliant on player intervention.

Mount and Blade? My allies in that are endlessly incompetent. I have to do everything or else we just lose all of the time.

So you're telling me... you can defeat a King's army all by yourself without the help of your troops...

If the AI did all the work for you, then it wouldn't be much of a game. You'd be just a spectator.

I'm not asking them to do all the work, I'm asking them to be more useful, look at Star Wars Battlefront, they're getting shit done, but at the same time they need your help to secure a victory

To instill a sense of power in you? Or shoddy AI.

Ok, I see you have Borderlands and TWD, let's just remove all the NPCs from those games, what do we have left? Some stupid empty ass game where there's nothing to fucking do

Try to play Red Orchestra. For two or three first levels I'd been playing I got to kill like five enemies, the rest were killed by my allies. I don't even know how many there were, just that I was making my way towards the village, or the railroad station, or whatever I was supposed to be liberating, and then I was victorious.

For example, at the Battle of Bruma Gate in TES4, the town guards get their asses handed to them while you do all the actual work, or in the campaign of almost every shooter game, how come YOU have to do all the work while your teammates struggle with like the smallest bit of resistance?
Anyone want to list up any games where having teammates actually help?
Here's mine:
Mount & Blade
Star Wars: Battlefront
