Which one to get?
I haven't used a XB1 controller so grain of salt but from what I've heard I'd say save the money and get the 360 controller or jump all the way up to a XB1 Elite.

I like my off-brand X1 controller that I purchased for 35 USD better than my old 360 controllers, but i doubt i would have paid double for it vs. a 360.

I wish I can get one for $35, but it would be a lot more expensive here. Thanks for the insight though

well invest is a poor word choice tbh, but you can. they work just fine as a pc controller. personally i didn't want to give MS any extra money so went with a steelseries pc/android controller instead, but they work the exact same way (x-input).

Thanks for the suggestion, it looks nice but sadly they don't ship to Egypt.

the important thing steam games care about is if it is a Xinput device instead of DirectInput device.
a directinput device could work with third party tools the same way, and a few games on steam. but not most.
a xinput device should work with all of the steam games that have partial or full controller tags.
mostly just go with what's most comfortable for you, that is xinput compatible. i don't play on either of the consoles but perfer the playstation layouts so that's the second reason i didn't want to go with xbox controller or even the steam controller.
but actual playstation controllers are directinput

The DualShock 4 is now supported via the Steam Controller API, if that helps. It's a better controller than the standard Xbone pad, problems with the coating on the analogue sticks dissolving not withstanding.

ahh okay, they probably finally changed to xinput or at least made them compatible with both now :D
even the playstation 3 controllers could do it, but they had to use motioninjoy ds3 software or simliar to make it emulate xinput. - not easy for everyone that route. but good to hear. ^^

No, Valve have just modified the Steam Controller API to allow support third-party controllers, starting with the DS4. It's not an official driver, per-se, but I believe it has Sony's blessing and replaces button images for games that officially support the Steam Controller.

I only use the controller for specific games that are usually better with it.

Yep, those drift issues are annoying and I have it here. If this happens too often then I wont be happy if it happens with my new controller, I'll think about the ps3 controller as an option. Thanks mate

I have both controllers and i prefer the Xbox One controller to the 360. The XOne controller is more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time for me and the triggers on the XOne are better than the 360, it's really noticeable in racing games.
All in all you can't go wrong with buying an XOne controller. :3

XBox 360 Controller is better and more cost effective.
I have one, and every game that has full controller support, supports that controller anyway.
Installation is also easy: plug it in and you're all set.

If you can get the 360 controller for half the price, go with that.
The Xbone one does feel like an all-round improved version from the time I've been able to spend with those, but it's not worth that big of a price difference.

I prefer the 360 pad over all I've used except the Xbox elite controller but that's very expensive really

Seems like that left analogue stick problem is popular, not very happy about that :(

i'm on my second logitech f310 and i've been very happy. the first one's left stick lost its right corners so i bought the second. it’s wired (i prefer this) and doesn't have vibration but you can get a refurbished one from amazon for $15

Hey guys, I am starting to get annoyed by the x360 controller I have since its analog started to not work properly making me not as accurate in games. I heard the xbox one controller was a good improvement, but its gonna be about double the price I can buy another x360 controller with. Do you guys have any experience to tell if its worth it?
Thanks for your help.
