Ok seriously,

Every 2 links or so - It's freaking DOTA 2 - is this a highly sought after game, or is it free to people and they just want to give it away on here? What is the deal with it... Seriously?

It's currently in it's beta phase (at least I think it still is). Invites were sent out at random earlier this year and those that received the first invites also got extra invites for friends. Later on they gave more invites to people that played the game often as incentive. So lots of invites are floating around and for some reason are worth 10 points on here. Even though they are essentially free. Although you are able to buy the if you choose to do so. Eventually it will be released in full as a f2p game.
