I recently won a game of Fallout 3 GotY Edition from Tremorgames. After taking a look at the game it is actually Fallout 3 GotY (DE) Edition. Upon researching what a (DE) edition was I found that it is basically a censored German language only version of the game. My question is what options do I have in getting a uncensored version or at least a game that is in English. If there are no options should I just learn German?

Edit: Note: "Fallout 3 (DE) German language issue

Due to low violence territory restrictions and the language packages associated with the game, you will be unable to change the language from German to other languages."

German is a nice language, I suggest that. Although probably your best bet is to try taking it up with Tremorgames and see if you can get at least an english version.

The language pack and uncensored patches are a great idea. I would love to make a giveaway, correct me if I am wrong, but creating a region restricted giveaway is against the Steamgifts ToS.

I think its not a violation if its not restricted to a country, I mean this is like an other version of the same game (if you can activate it anywhere). Like there is a "normal" cut and "theatrical cut" to movies, but they are not restricted, just different version. But you should ask others opinion too.

You must be new here since putting region restricted games as giveaways is against the rules, and so is re-gifting.

Edit: Oh whoops thought tremorgames was an account here, my bad.

As far as I have read, there is no regifting in this case, and I believe region restricted games are only forbidden on SG when it is restricted to a single country (illegal VPN use for activating the game) and not a game restricted to a language with low violence content.

Also gabchikowo is about as new as you are.

Could see if you could trade it if you 1.) Dont want to learn german, or 2.) Cant manage to find the right patches and such.

"should I just learn German?" - Yes, you should anyways. German is a beautiful language... Ok, the opinion of a German guy probably doesn't count that much.
From what I remember seeing on the store page, the game should be MultiX (X languages included), so it should be English as well. Not sure about the censoring (not caring that much either), but I guess you could try to get some files from an uncensored version and see if it works.
Alternatively, if you didn't activate it yet, you could try to trade it for an uncensored one.

I lol'd. I can't take any of these people who use dead/overused/ruined memes as avatars. Or people who frequent 9gag.

Not entirely relevant, but hey.

:D

I was in Saudi Arabia a little while ago, and discovered, to my horror, that the local supermarket did not stock Talisker single malt whisky.

well... I haven't seen any footage of the german edition, but all I can say is this... you won't hear the lovely Moira Brown and her midwestern accent properly in german... so, I vote to get the english one. >)

Actually, if I recall, you can contact Valve about it and see if they can do anything for you.

This worked for me. When Steam Trading was launched I got an Australian low-violence copy of L4D2. After contacting Valve support they changed it to the regular edition.

I have my support ticket in, hopefully it will help. Thanks for the ray of hope.

Hopefully it will. L4D2 might have been easier with it being a Valve title.

skd3, I suggest you report the person and give him back his gift if you haven't activated it already.

It's not a person he won it from on Steamgifts, unfortunately. It came from that "flash game site" (with quotes because it's really a survey/referral operation with some flash games as bait) that was promoting itself on here recently.

I don't mind low violence and German language, could maybe trade for it. Otherwise just give it away.

I don't know what you guys are talking about but when someone speaks German to me I always get scared. It sounds as if they are yelling and angry at you.

Well you won it on the other website, so you should redeem it for yourself.

You can always make a giveaway I guess.

If this has answered your question, please close this thread.

Just to make sure: you ban people for giving away German low-violence versions? Because I've seen lots of it on the site and nobody said anything.
