Hey, guys. With the feature"Request a New Winner" it's pretty simple now to re-roll your giveaway if you have reason. And I give one to you.

Group Hammer of Justice keep collecting all cheaters, abusers, re-gifters, traders, etc. in our List of Cheaters. Please, check it before sending your gift, just search for username and if he/she listed, don't give a game (now you have reason) and request re-roll.

So, as I wrote in title - don't feed cheaters and they'll starve to death (or just leave this place).

Here is List of Cheaters

P.S. if someone can make this thread "sticky" it will be awesome

Banning is to stray people off from causing trouble. I don't think his action would be referred as such.

You can't break rules just because you think you're doing something good.
What if those regifters has given the games to their poor friend or someone who asked them for it? Should they be condemned because they did what they thought was good?
My point is, you can't break rules. No exceptions.

This is my question too.

He is breaking a rule cause he can't tolerate many people breaking it and mods doing nothing about it.

Honestly i think there should be an exception for this case... We know it's against the rules to call out users, but this website is completly rigged with cheaters that it's just sad, when i joined this community months ago, it was damn nice back then... opening this to everyone and their mother was probably the biggest mistake CG ever did.

Whenever i get back to gifting games i'm going to put really heavy rules in a group i'll make, already got a few plans for future groups that will accept honest people and trustworthy contributors. This is the way i like to see the website, safe and clean.

sadly its an imperfect list. not everyone reported ends up on it and i know that atleast one person on it (so likely more), dont deserve to be. i sure hope no good users who end up on the list unfairly get denied a win because of it.

DONT GET ME wrong though, i know that we certainly need a list like this... i mean we all know the mods here arent really that concerned or interested in punishing cheaters, but all im saying is that you guys really need to be careful with this list of yours.... which i think we definately need, because ultimately its going to only be down to just the users to keep this place honest and strong...

Na mate, not saying you have re-gifted it; if you had you probably wouldent say so on the forums heh, just that most people have a public profile, and from that we can see if they activated the game or not. Besides you won the game from Cross, and he is srs about his giveaways :3.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

which this place doesnt have. seriously, the mods here dont seem to care about fakers, regifters or exploiters anymore, doesnt matter if you use support or giveaway report or user report. the WORST that happens, is that the giveaway gets deleted. how is that any kind of deterrent? is it any wonder people continue to do this stuff if the worst that happens is a deleted giveaway?

honestly, ive stopped caring that people exploit the site. i dont even bother reporting anymore because i know theres no point.

Permalink

Well maybe there's no problem with the support, but with people like you? If no one report a rulebreaker, no one will ban him.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

...but i HAVE reported in the past and no action was taken, so how do you figure its not a problem with support but a problem with me? Ive reported a regifter and a fake (not accidental) giveaway creator, and zero action was taken... is it any wonder i longer think its worth reporting and have ZERO faith in the mods? i honestly believe 100% that they just dont care any more.

and as a result.. neither do i now.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As far as I know only CG can ban and he's understandably and likely very busy. The other mods can deal with tickets but Jade is still waiting for banning powers. When that happens, find a hole to crawl in and then emerge later after the hammer has been swung and decimated the SG landscape of cheaters, regifters, exploiters, and traders.

Well, let's just say that out of my 16 reports on the support forum, only 3 weren't answered.

For fuck's sake, SHIV, understand what you are talking about before you run your mouth. It's very simple to search for "Support" on the forum search bar.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Most, if not all on the list will have been reported already. The list only exists because there is a backlog, and cheats are still getting games.

The problem with support, if indeed there could be said to be one, is that they don't have an unlimited amount of time to deal with the legion of tossers who, often deliberately, flout the rules. Neither should they be expected to spend hours and hours on this site, dealing with idiots, when they have lives to lead outside of Steamgifts.

The problem is gradually getting dealt with, but until then, IMHO the list seems as good a way as any of restoring a degree of order to the site.

Sure, list imperfect because we don't have list of reported on SG and just collecting what we can find. If person want to be removed from it, he can talk with any member of HoJ and describe the situation. There are lot of user who made one mistake occasionally, but also others here, who sells/trade all that they won.

As for rules, I understand it, but I can't see other option. I tried to contact cg and asked about possible cooperation with HoJ, but my message still unanswered (wrote 1 week ago).

Some would say Exsol is calling out lusers abusing the system for their own gain.

Others would say he's using verifiable links to warn legitimate users for the betterment of the community.

This is a matter of semantics. And in a matter of semantics, choosing the morally right intent is typically the way to go.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Calling out users is calling out users, no matter why. The rules say not to call out users, period. They don't say it's okay to call out users because you happen to have some (moral or otherwise) justification.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I propose the formation of a committee to further define the act of "calling out!"

Is "calling out" providing information in even the slightest form to indicate to others that a person may be a violator of the rules?

Is "calling out" only "calling out" when information provided is "overtly" available?
What about in cases where information is "covert?" (in that it is not immediately available, you must follow the path of righteousness).

Is it calling out if no information is provided, but only a mere hunch? (Most certainly we can agree that this is unacceptable).

The reason for this is not so that scammers can continue running around doing harm because we're secretly in league with them. It's because what if you get it wrong?

Unfortunately, this is how the world works. They take a bunch of evidence and form a proof out of it. I wish(and I already do) I could agree with your statement. Evidence is never a proof.

No sweat, buddy. Glad we got that settled. It can be difficult to articulate a sense of humor through this kind of communication.

While I don't whole-heartedly agree with the "never call out ever ever ever" argument (that is not to say I don't agree with it at all) I do want to see a change to this site to make it better.

I have made a small effort to bring to attention an idea I had to better this site (search "competency test" in the forum as I don't remember how to link. I still stand by my idea there and wish the mods would consider/implement it.

However, I worry that fanaticism may slither its ugly head into your operation which could lead to a sort of "false positive" situation. Sometimes it is cut-n-dry; sometimes it isn't. I only hope that honest people don't "accidentally" find themselves on the list.
