For all Morrowind fans that may have missed the news. Apparently, OpenMW has released multiplayer support.

Did you ever play Morrowind?

I played my share of MW in 2002/03. As much as I would like to give OpenMW a shot, seeing my backlog I am pessimistic.
But it is great news :)

Sounds like we're in pretty much the same situation then. I'm probably spending something like 80% of my gaming time playing and replaying old games as it is. I keep telling myself that I will pick this up once it's matured a little more though :D

Haven't tried OpenMW...to be honest it's already hard enough to get it running looking somewhat modern xD
I didn't really miss MP in TES games...but then again I never tried it and it might be awesome ^^

Could be pretty cool to play with a couple of like-minded friends. Great that you added a link to the STEP guide. I want to play Morrowind again but I'm torn between all the available options. I'm not really bothered about graphics though so I'm leaning towards a vanilla playthrough at the moment. I think most of the stuff in STEP should work on OpenMW by the way. At least most of the graphics oriented stuff.

I'll add your link to OP if you don't mind.

I finished the vanilla game 2 or 3 times quite a while back...so I thought it's time for an overhaul xD
Make it look good and then add a ton of questmods...but I haven't finished that project...backlog and so on xD

and ofc feel free to use the link...just making clear thats not my tutorial xD...but it might help someone here

Yeah, STEP is a great resource for modding any TES game, well the later ones anyway :)

After reading through the guide and looking at those yummy screenshots I'm now leaning more towards modding myself lol

Whoa. I remember seeing threads about Morrowind's need for MP in like 2007. Nice to see it's finally become a thing, although it probably won't work very well with my terrible french copy of the game :/

I bought the GOTY edition around 2006 I think and easily put hundred of hours into it (it was the 2nd to last game I bought for Windows and around the time I switched to Linux). I haven't tried OpenMW since around the time it was initially released, but it's nice to see it still being developed.

Am a Morrowind veteran. 500+ hours to complete it on steam and had previously played in on disc. Have bought Elder Scrolls online (not yet played). Would love to try it but realistically, I find these games immersive, story rich, a joyful adventure, and for me, antisocial (my issue, have trouble getting off the computer :). Not the right time for me to dive into a game like that now.

I have the major part of my Morrowind playtime long before I owned a Steam account. ESO is quite nice but as with every MMO it focuses a lot on the social parts of the game. It's easy to get sucked in and stuck with obligations to do this and that event or to grind resources. I even bought two copies of in hopes of getting my significant other to play but I ended up using the other account for mules. I'm tempted to get back in and try the recently released Morrowind expansion and I think I should have enough in-game currency to buy it on at least one of the accounts.
