I think it's something like you're automatically entered into however many tickets you buy each month or so. They just take it from your bank account. But I guess he still got the tickets even when they couldn't deduct anything from his account.

(i.e. if chance of winning is higher than 1:350.000.000 then your expected outcome is positive)
I don't know the actual odds but it might be possible :) in which case you can statistically defend any # of tickets you buy, assuming you don't take into account the risk of having to share the jackpot (not sure how to calculate this but it should theoretically be possible, just a great deal more complicated)

Read about a story about how a man got divorced, became an alcoholic and homeless for 6 years, bought some scratch cards and won half a million. So positive you can always win, but it might take a few years. :p

Nah but apparently you don't win the 800million, a quarter goes to taxes, and you only get an x amount each time, unless you take it all at once, then you get half.

Powerball lottery in the U.S is reaching record high at 800 millions.
