they could do steam funds into your backpack then you could use it as a currency that's tradeable?

That would never happen. Legality and ethics alone would make this idea a stillbirth.

Would only be workable with a credit card, and would cost more in the long run.

But hey some people like those kind of systems.

What's the point than?

Or you could just throw pennies into a jar and buy a steam wallet card when you have enough.

Assuming you live in the US, that is.

Put the money under your pillow or in a jar or piggy bank till you have enough. Same thing, and doesn't cost Steam a fortune in stupid credit card fees.

Or better yet, don't buy the game until you have enough money for those you want. By that time, they'll all have lowered in price and you can buy twice as many!

its called summer, winter, spring and daily sales.... if you wait their will be a discount!

Edit: of course there weekly, weekend and week long sales too... patience its the difference between a 60$ game and a 30-40$ price cut.

I'm sorry, but games aren't that expensive. Especially Steam games.

That already exists! It's called saving up your money.

That is a bad idea. That is how people end up paying four grand for a ps3.

I'd like it betterer if Steam had a tab. Some of us spent so much money (not me) on Steam that you would think they could be trusted just a little bit.

One of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

I don't really see the point... All you're doing is putting the money into it so that you don't "accidentally" spend it... I'd just save up and then buy it when I have the money ;)

Better idea: Learn self control.

Wouldn't that basically be exactly the same as just saving up money until you can afford to buy the game?

Why don't you just steadily load up your steam wallet....?

I would like to quote you: "(...)is just a stupid idea [you] had is all"

This sounds like layaway, which would probably be pointless with digital goods, unless they weren't going to be sold anymore or you hit a sale that can't be passed on. Then I could see it being useful.
