Bump for solved.
With the new approach it's a bit easier to miss one hint(Still a puzzle lover shouldn't have issues finding it), but now all the paths are open for adventurers with no dead ends along the way

Hmm... number 3 was easy, but I have no clue at all on the rest. Everything I can think of that makes sense is wrong. I guess I am too dumb for this one - but, at least I am not alone judging by the statistics, lol :P

Yes, I have played it quite a few times, with my family, despite a few issues getting it to work properly. For some reason, it only works properly on my system if I disconnect from Steam - but it's still playable hot-seat style. Of course, we also have the physical game now, so that gets played more :D

I do still intend to keep trying the puzzle, but it's beaten me so far :P

Bump for 4 out of 5 solved!

Missing the fourth one. Found a couple of clues that might be relevant but I can't link them to an actual song title. I tried brute-forcing a few songs from 1987 that fit the context without any luck. I have a good idea of what I should be looking for but my lack of musical knowledge and song-searching skills is making the task difficult. I'll come back to it later. Thanks for the fun puzzle!

Bump!

More people need to experience this fun puzzle. Those of you who tried brute-forcing the quiz and gave up in frustration should give it another go. There are plenty of clues and hints scattered around to nudge you in the right direction. I can assure you that you don't need deep knowledge of music or endless trial-and-error to find the answers.

I haven't been able to solve it yet! But I still need to take a look at your last hint. 🙂

As for your question: some people just enjoy puzzles even without the reward. 😉

just few dumb words of love, for you, your quest... your wife!

Aah! I even looked at your steam profile and skimmed through your bird and music groups in hopes of finding some clues. Totally missed the bird emoticons, definitely a cool way to hide something. Too bad I wasn't able to solve it but overall seems like a great puzzle, the pieces were there but it seems that I did overthink things quite a bit!

Maaaaaaaaaan, that is a GREAT list of books.
Coincidentally, I went to my monthly writer's salon yesterday and a few of us ended up discussing Neuromancer and Snow Crash for over an hour. It's honestly hard for me to say which had a greater impact on me overall, but I'll make the same point now as I did then: I read Snowcrash 5 or 6 years after it came out so it was extremely timely and relevant to the present, whereas Gibson's magnum opus was written when I was but a wee thing so its impact on the speculative fiction I read and continue to enjoy was much larger but also not as critical because so much of it was embedded in the dna of other similar novels, if that makes sense.

As for more recent/ present-day books that I've read within the last couple of years:
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler
Frankenstein in Baghdad by Ahmed Saadawi

Also, fucking great taste in music, especially SWANS, The Cure and Sonic Youth. Michael fucking Gira is a god and I'm thrilled someone else on this forum knows the band.

I missed the puzzle but coudn't resist commenting when I saw the list of books and bands!

I fiercely second Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch series (the "Ancillary" books being the main trilogy and starting point). Since then she's branched out into other genre fiction with less impressive results. But MAN, I envy you your first experience with these books. The audiobooks are excellent if reading time is scarce.

I haven't, but since it's been compared to JG Ballard I must confess I am adding it to my TBR pile, which already threatens to overwhelm me!

It was intriguing, and the general consensus of my book club is that it works very well as a novel of ideas and is a very timely novel due to AI being in the cultural zeitgeist and how the octopi relate to all that. I don't want to spoil it for you, though i am interested in knowing what you think!

I didn't get to complete the puzzle, but this was hands down the most rewarding, charismatic, lovingly-crafted puzzle I've discovered since joining SteamGifts. Thank you. Can't wait for your next one. 💝
