Here's the quote from Facebook:

"Thank you everyone that alerted us to Nexuiz being removed from the Steam store. We believe this is related to the liquidation of THQ assets. We hope these are the final stages of THQ's grasp on Nexuiz. Hopefully we'll have full control over the title and can do whatever we want with it again soon. At that point, we are going to try to do something special for the Steam version of Nexuiz and get it back up. There are still no plans to get Nexuiz back on XBLA.

Thanks again and hopefully we'll have more information soon! I know some of you are mad about this situation. So are we, but we will try to get this game back up and running smoothly for you soon. Right now we just can't put down the costs to maintain the game when we've never received a penny on royalties due to the THQ bankruptcy. Once THQ is completely out of the picture, we'll have more freedom to do what we can to really help.

-Kedhrin"

So if Nexuiz goes F2P then Steam buyers will get something special for them and there won't be a XBLA version anytime soon. Well I hope they can get back up.

I quite liked Nexuiz but with the horrible beta and launch it lost all of the players :(

Yeah, the beta was indeed terribad.

But personally I just can't see how the formula could work at all. Highly competitive, but simultaneously obsessed with mutators. It's a bipolar idea appealing to completely contrary audiences and I think that had plenty to do with why the game flunked. That and the focus on graphics that proved to be more distraction than eye-candy.

They had a competitive mode which removed most of the crazy mutators (or all of them).. unfortunately this wasn't implemented until well after launch which was part of the huge issues at launch :(

I had the beta and none of the servers worked. I waited in a matchmaking screen for 48 hours straight before I deleted it

Pretty simple actually, developers make the game and create patches at request of the publisher while the publishers market, sell and everything else involved the game.

Also reposted this to Nexuiz Steam forum.

I think the Ignite devs also promised to add the game back to Steam, but it hasn't happened yet o.o

Hm,interested in what they have in store for the people who already bought it. I got my copy when I got a new graphics card, didn't play much of it though, although I love the fast-paced gameplay
