Well, our Steam profiles are public information on this website, anyone here can see them anyway and people are checking user profiles regularly for various reasons, but I admit that keeping some personal records of what other users do for no reason is kinda creepy, but then again he's a newbie, checking his surroundings, learning new stuff and simply tried to have a conversation with the rest of us, admittedly a creepy one, but in my opinion it would have been even creepier if he was doing this secretly without letting anyone know, instead he chose to use it as an excuse to start a conversation with strangers, so I guess... if little creepy but otherwise harmless neighbour? lol.. There will always be people like that, even in real life. :-)

It might be that the person doesn't play that many games or is too busy. We all have different lifestyles from each other, so for you, it may be the norm that you would a) have many games b) play a lot of games c) have a lot of friends.
But i've seen profiles where people don't have many games or friends. Perhaps the person wants a private lifestyle? Or they work so much that it's hard to play games and establish strong relationships? Perhaps they have friends outside of steam and therefore wouldn't have much use to add friends on Steam.
There's so many different factors coming into play here.
And maybe, they are just kind souls wanting to give away games to people who want/will play them.
On a personal note, I started out with very few games. I had absolutely no friends besides my brother. I didn't even play that much. Then, I gradually started adding people. I started off with adding myself on a "I NEED TO FIND FRIENDS" group, but got a lot of weird friend requests. I have had my Steam account for 2 years-ish, but was not officially active until the beginning of Feb/March this year (2015). I just wasn't into that gaming phase at the moment because of all the other things in my life. With college and everything, I figured that games would be a distraction. However, I think my game collecting began by researching game sales, which lead me to sites like Reddit, Groupees, IndieGala, HumbleBundle, etc. The bundles allowed me to purchase many games for a low price ... and then I got addicted to game collecting (and playing somewhat). Plus Steam summer sales, along with sales for HB, GMG, and other sites were going on, so that got me buying a lot of games too.
And finally, finally, I saw SteamGifts mentioned in a Groupees chat because hints were being distributed through this platform.
So, Around 3 months ago, I decided to finally try out Steam Gifts (for a while, I thought it was a scam) and IT IS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. I love the SG community. After I started posting my threads, I started getting friend requests, so that made me happy. :)

I had like 2 or 3 friends when I first joined SG and my steam account will be 12 years old this month. I think it's just a combination of me being old and not having any RL friends that are gamers plus me not being that social of a person.

Anyone else find it a bit weird how there is some people giving away like 10 different games and when you go to there profile they got like 5 friends no game hours?
