Filled out your poll. I generally don't write reviews because I often play a game much after the game came out and the review won't matter much. I do find user reviews very helpful and insightful, but I always read several and never the "troll", "meme" or short "good game" reviews.

Just some tips for the future
Regarding the last two questions.

1.
"If you have changed review on steam from positive to negative or otherwise, why?"
You made this question mandatory to be answered but if it is a if you cant desribe it if you never done it.

2.
Do you realy expect people to provide you with data that links their behaviour to a definitive ID?
If you do you should include a disclaimer to the question asking for the SG user name.
Something along the line "By writing your SG ID in the answer field you agree that your data will be used for..."
Maybe provide a term someone can use if he do not want to give his SG Nick so you can filter answers from people who want to stay anonym.

This was a very interesting poll, I'm glad I got to share my thoughts about it. I think it's a very important part of Steam and it's impact is often neglected.

Submitted. I'm somewhat new at writing reviews, but I got a lot of positive feedback, so I kind of continued doing it. I found it relaxes me and I just want to share my thoughts on the games I play. I got involved with Average Achievement Hunter Curator and started my own small one, still getting great feedback, so there will certainly be more reviews in the future. :)

I used to do reviews for people. I have been in MANY groups.Once I was in this group which I discovered that CHARGED 10$ for each review (since a dev leaked me one of their mails), as well as more than600 not reviewed titles that they got paid for before I joined them, talked about it with the group owner and I was instantly kicked out.

I think someone from there is watching us!, this is my only comment in one month and I have +1 blacklist today :P

Interesting. What I was missing in the poll was questions about the aggregate results; I think I'm not the only one who first just looks if a game has mostly positive or negative reviews.

Completed the poll. I think that for some of the questions, you should have an option for "Not Applicable" or "I don't do this".

For example one of your mandatory questions was "What motivates you to write reviews?", but there was no option for "I don't write reviews". I think that from a research perspective, this introduces bias to the question since people would be either pressured to pick one of the pre-set answers, misinterpret the question and answer it incorrecy, or just waste your time having to filter a lot more results people wrote into the "Other" answer.

I must admit I don't really write reviews, but hope my answers help your research.

Also I don't really get why after completing the poll there is an option to submit another answer (wouldn't it influence the accuracy?).

Bump. I try to write reviews for all games I beat. My biggest gripe is that a lot of people are too easy on games. It's annoying when you keep a game based on good reviews only to realize it's not that great - then go check the reviews and most say a variation on 'the game is just ok'. There are so many games out there that if you're having trouble deciding if a review should be positive or negative, chances are it should be negative.
