Yep, still holds numero uno for me.

About once a month, I go looking for a Wire scene on Youtube. Then I look at the related videos and see a couple of other awesome scenes I'd forgotten about. And then all of a sudden it's 2 hours later and I've got a dozen tabs open.

^ thissss so much, people tend to dislike the show since it has a really strange kind of humor to it but i just love how each character is egocentric in his own way.

Purely personal opinion: Breaking Bad is better at dramatic tension for sure (fucking cliffhangers!), but for semi-realism and a political/artistic statement The Wire blows everything else I've seen out of the water. Breaking Bad is more Hollywood-y in many of its action sequences and plot twists to me.

Right now I'm going back and watching Homicide: Life on the Street, which was the first show based on David Simon's work and so far it's great. More network TV-friendly but obviously a prototype for The Wire.
