"How is the economy handled? Are the developers keeping all the goodies for themselves?
The economy (Dollars) in The War Z is completely player-controlled with the option to invest in "Gold Coins" which one may purchase supplies for convenience such as the cure for the zombie infection and vanity items in one of the many player/npc driven settlements that has to be found across the wastes. However, you cannot buy anything for gold coins that would give a hard advantage over others in the game, Pay 2 Winners beware!"
Nope, WarZ is not free to play. And Nope, you won't be killed outright by people who pay for ingame money.

I've seen what the micro-payments are for. I understand it's not pay-to-win, but they are 'game-enhancing'. If I pay $30 for something, I want a complete product - not a vanilla base game.
Anyway, as others have said it doesn't look like the game itself is gonna be too brilliant. I'll wait for standalone DayZ.

Nope. From what i've seen it's more of a co-op shooter than a Zombie Survival game that you are actually scared of the zombies. I will wait until it's out and see if it's actually like that, but so far i don't like it. Right now i'm waiting for DayZ .( Loved the mod and i'm still playing it from time to time.)

Wow. The more I read of that, the less I like it. It seems like everything about this game is monetized to Hammerpoint's benefit. Game purchase, server rental, micro-transactions (and yes, I call bullshit on the fact that the game CAN lock you out of play entirely if you're just not all that good at it or get a real string of bad luck with character after character. Not a fan of that idea - especially when you consider that you can use real money to PURCHASE a revive for said characters. Oh boy. Z stands for Zynga, apparently.

For all of you who think warz is vaporware or a scam or whatever, watch this: http://www.gamespot.com/the-war-z/videos/the-war-z-vs-dayz-6397190/
gamespot has played it.

There is gameplay in the video i linked, and the gamespot employee said he had played it...
Also, just recently, another website like gamespot got to try it aswell and made an alpha review.
And I do understand the meaning of vaporware and scamming, but I dont think you know what it is.
But yes, they are benefitting from the hype of dayz, nothing wrong with a little competition, it will only drive down prices and make both games feel the need to be better then the other, only benefits for us gamers.

Preordering is like putting your money in a bank expect it's useless and you don't get a return investment.
In other words : Don't.
Also. Free buggy mod or paid buggy game? Simple choice. (Please you know it'll be just as buggy).

the game itself is going to be around 20€ when release. they are just give other goodies if you pay more, in this case you paying for strongholds/safehouse that is kinda like small servers, and some money so you can waste in hats and other stuff that doesnt make you strong. kinda like tf2

And EVERYTHING including hats and shit is possible to find in the map. The atachements and the ammo that the marketplace may have will be low rarity, expencive and possible to buy with the game currency. The Gold coins will be for some customization products and new charaters(Is possible to get them with exp also)

I won't Looks pay 2 win (in a way or another) + WarInc is full with bugs i got into it since the close beta, game hasn't improve that much lol, either way getting DayZ Standalone :d

Time put in means nothing, its the quality of the game in the end. I could spend 4 years making a cake, doesn't mean it's instantly going to better than any cakes that took 30 minutes ;)
It is quite possible to make a good, enjoyable game in something as little as a week!

WarZ may have started before DayZ but as an intention of a L4D ripoff. After that, they claim they have been working on it before DayZ but from the gameplay footages I've seen, it looks like its still in pre-alpha stage.
Overall, I assume WarZ to DayZ = Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising to ARMA 2 . Basically, that would be a slap to the face.

Yes, they claim it has started before DayZ but that was probably when nothing was even done but they probably announced it, but its just biting off DayZ's success. Like I said, it'll be what Sunken Dragon was to ARMA 2... Seeing microtransitions, that's another bad money whoring sign.

A better way of wasting your money is just sending it to me :)
