I've always heard that standalone microphones are the best, and microphones found on headsets are usually inferior. I hope that helps somehow

If your headset has a mic, just use that. You don't need uber good studio quality, most headphones nowadays have surprisingly good microphone quality. Maybe I'm just a poor guy who hasn't heard awesome quality, but my 2 year old, £10 headset records very clearly.

Depends on how much you want to spend and which quality you expect from it.
And if you want a USB mic, or a real condenser microphone which needs a preamp/interface because it needs 48v phantom power.
I'd recommend you a Rode NT1-A+ Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.

I plan on doing some commentaries and I was wondering what would be good for recording at its price and quality. Can someone help me find one? I heard that the Yeti was pretty good; link for it is down below. Any other suggestions?
