The reasons why we do not allow curation links are connected to those things you listed in your description of Steam curation. The SteamGifts forum is not a "free, electronic billboard" for people to advertise themselves.

"you'll have an option to get games from developers/publishers directly and for free, via the Curator Connect system" I didn't know this part. Makes a lot of sense to not allow curation links then.

OP is telling people what is involved in creating and using your own Steam Curator page in case anyone was curious what it involved.

The comments are the "old discussion" started by a mod, but the post is just literally describing what a Curator page is.

Look, he's specifically hinting at that in his caption:
why Mods seems to be so attentive, searching for forbidden links?
So it's not so far fetched, but whatever, I appreciate icaio's input as I would never create a curation myself. Learning a thing or two is always fun. ;)

So, does anyone actually trust strangers to pick out games to buy?
I have never done this, which is why I have never seen a Curation page.

I once thought about running a curator for RPG Maker games and other small niche things, then roughly 5 seconds later I realized people would probably send me dozens of keys for terrible games so that I could review them, so I shelved that idea into my "bad ideas I thankfully never put into application" drawer.

what's inside the Steam Curation? why Mods seems to be so attentive, searching for forbidden links?
once, i've created a Curation, thought it was cool. was wrong.
'cause i were (and actually am) more a member of this site than a curator.
as a "tool" can vouch for its coolness, kinda commercially speaking, it's handy. and fun, more than writing a review. you can also put YouTube videos in seconds, and curate games you don't own.
as i'm lazy, very lazy, already prepared a TLDR for you:
Google Analytics
code in "your store". <-- this is the most "techy" part, imoso, now you know a few bits i think you should know to better answer the questions up here. only if you care, obv.
little update (might be useful for a SG V5 or 6, but still)
Epic games is running a classic "affiliation", name is Support-A-Creator: epicgames.com/affiliate/en-US/overview
difference here is "creators" (streamers, bloggers and such, 1000+ followers ...) will earn actual money (5 usd per 100 spent on store, ...). so, just guessing, but quite easy that an affiliate/creator link to their store will have a referral
