I'm finally back after two weeks suspensions. I got suspended because of this comment. And while I'm well aware that I deserved the punishment, I've also noticed many of you have put me on their blacklists. Which is fine, you can do what you want and I don't really care, especially since I haven't been that active on SG for a few months now. I can live without winning games from you, but I wanted to let you know that things are not always what they seem to be.
You see, the guy whom I replied to, used to offend me. We're both users of one of the internet forums. It started off normal, we had some fights but in friendly manner (or so I thought). His comments gradually became really mean, though. I've been called stupid, ugly and so on. He also told me to kill myself when I asked for advice, although I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it (I didn't mean it, too).
and I actually have been depressed for a few years now, to the point of attempting suicide so I know how it is. I would never say something like that to a person who might take it seriously
I'm not writing this to justify my actions. What I did was not right. And I'm not trying to paint him black. He's backed away some time ago and it was me who behaved childishly this time. This whole situation may not be important but it's an example and I hope it will give you some food for thought. I'm just some nobody but there surely are people you know, who've been suffering because someone judged them too quickly. Be careful and try not to jump to conclusions, especially when it concerns your loved ones.

FWIW this is always terrible advice, the aboslujte best way to judge a book is by its cover. Any incidence of Gold and I mean ANY even just on the author's name you should absolutely just throw the book on the ground and run away from the scene as fast as your legs can carry you.

Number 64 in the early morning life advice series from ronpeppers, helping you have a better day.

Can't say I've read it. When middle-aged women go apeshit bananas over something it's generally a recommendation against (see Adele for further reference) but maybe that's my loss. Perhaps it's the finest piece of literature ever spewed forth and life is a little lost in not reading it..

Missed out on the Da Vinci Code too, maybe this rule needs a rethink.

IIRC, it started as Twilight fanfiction.

That should be a clue that you are missing nothing.

But by night I'm one hell of a lover... ;-)

You are victim of Poe's law after all. I sincerely sympathize you and all other victims of Poe's law.

It's not necessary for a referee to know your history with each other. If someone steps out of line they get a red card so the match can go on.
If that other person continues to offend you or stalk you here than report him. Eventually they'll stop or get a permanent suspension.
And anyone who tells someone else to kill themselves on the internet deserves to be slapped hard in the face.

It seems the moderator kinda abused their role. I would understand if they suspended you for 3 days instead of 2, but suspending for 2 weeks is not very appropriate. I would say it is typical abusing of the role of moderator.

The worst aspect of this behavior is that the only ones who are punished are people who won some GAs from the victim or people who should give a game to to the victim. It would not be problem if the suspension was long just few days as it is normally, but it is a problem if it is long like that.

Doesn't look like abuse to me. You're not in a position to make an informed opinion on this, moderators have access to information not available to you. There's a reason the suspension durations listed there are called default length.

thank you for your kind words but it really isn't abuse. I got suspended earlier, in May 2014. If I remember correctly I got carried away a little and told someone to frick off because they repeatedly claimed I was a man pretending to be a girl and the picture from my avatar was a fake from the internet (this REALLY rustles my jimmies).
So yeah, I'm the bad guy

I get what you're saying and while it may seem really unfair to you, here's what happened afterwards:
--You created this thread and explained yourself and became more active in the community.
--You created another thread, this time with kitties I had to remove you from my BL after that sooo cuuute❤️
While it may seem like suspensions are a negative thing, they can lead to something positive if you choose to do so. Suspensions are not the end-all punishment you are not being exiled from the SG kingdom forever. They help make the site a better place. I've been suspended a few times too
Also, I think this was for a repeated offence, but if you have a doubt you should open a ticket. Glad to see you're back and posting more kitties meerkats.

Edit: About your title, the internet is a confusing place full of terribly nice and wonderfully rude people. I didn't do that earlier, but lately to protect myself I judge by a single comment or two which is wrong I used to look for some history behind that but I've come to realise you cannot reliably tell how a person is going to act no matter how far back you look into them.

hahaha, I know right? he also sleeps and cuddles with me! I'm so lucky we took him home, otherwise he probably wouldn't be alive by now :( (I suppose that's what happened with his siblings)
And - just for record - I don't think it was unfair, I got what I deserved. I hold no grudge against anybody. Cheers! :)

I don't judge books from their covers, but if I don't like their cover, and I'm not interested in reading them, the least I can do is to avoid insulting those books.
With people is a bit different, because they can insult you before you've known them. I tend to not care when this happens.

Thank you for being candid. The internet unfortunately gives a shield to those who abuse others. This is not really an end. People will sometimes act like jerks. Ignore and move on I say. Good luck and stay strong.

i'm gonna remove you from my bl since you took the time to explain what happened here, but take into account whatever you do here is usually the first impression others get, so if it's something hostile, they will think you are aggressive or rude.

doesn't matter if you are friends with someone, if you attack them here, you will be marked as such.

It takes a lot of strength to admit when one's self is wrong.

It takes even more bravery to apologize.

As I see it, when you feel depressed, just know that you are a beautiful and strong woman.

Wow. You really need to Vote Trump 2016 and stop being so concerned with frivolous things like Who's going to pay for the wall or how We're gonna make America great again. Geeeezzz....so many drama llamas. :/

There are a few pearls of wisdom there. Hastily rushing to judgment without all (or any) of the facts all too often seems to be human nature though, probably no where moreso than the internet because of the anonymity it offers. The moment someone resorts to the whole "kill yourself" mentality it destroys their credibility (assuming they had any to begin with) and does himself/herself a disservice, because now it has degraded into a personal attack rather than addressing the issue. Not that we don't see this every day in politics (mudslinging), which is one of the reasons why I am somewhat disillusioned with all of it. But anyhow, I have digressed.

No one is perfect and you are okay in my book, which doesn't even have a cover ;)
