Now with Steam Big Picture mode I don't know why you are even asking :P If you are fan of console controls, you can use Steam BPM. Also you can upgrade your PC if it will not be powerful enough. Also you can do other stuff on PC, not just play games ;)

+1
I have two systems - one is hooked up to the beamer and if I feel like playing a game on the big picture lying on the couch I fire up Steam Big Picture and grab the XBox 360 Wireless Controller.
Another nice thing: You buy it once and you play it on both (not at the same time obviously) - just the way it should be!
And another nice thing: even the oldest games will run on your current hardware - no need to keep the old systems lyring around like you need to do with consoles nowadays.

Depends on what kind of PC you get and your tastes, i have a gaming PC but i like to play on a console more

to make that decision there are in a nutshell 3 important factors to consider.
1)Are you a core games? if yes how much of a core gamer are you?
-if you are like me and play around 10 to 30 hours a week of video games the library of the xbox 360 is rather small. Not only does the PC have almost all xbox 360 games it also has all games from previous generation like x-com from Windows DOS to farenheit form the xbox generation.
2)how much are you willing to spend now?
-PC hardware is much more expensive than a console. in my country an xbox 360 with 320Gb HDD cost around 300 euro witha few games, while the PC cost around 800 euro.
-however it also important to note that PC games are FAR cheaper then their console counterparts. this is because most games use a digital aproach and stores like steam and amazon have huge sales! and you also have indie bundles which give a few games for a single dolar.
3)your favorite genres.
-for me this is the most important point. everyone has a genre or a style of games that they play and each platform "specializes" in a few genres.
-PC has an edge in strategy and simulation games. total war, arma, DCS, etc are games that are only possible on the PC
-Xbox has Forza (possible the most alround racing game i ever played, it can cater from core to casual with just a few tweaks in the options), halo, gears (some of the best action games that currently exist) and most importantly the groundbreaking JRPGs , blue dragon, lost odisey, etc (HUGE adventures on HD glory).
In a nutshel, my opinion is that the more you invest in gaming (either with time or money) the PC becomes the clearest choice however it is also the "hardest" platform to play because it requires some knowledge to mantain it at peak condition. essentially after reading my poitns if you are still undecided all i can sey is to see with one your friends have. single player gaming is awesome but without anyone to share the stories and the gameplay gaming loses a bit of its charm.

if you only have the cash equal to an xbox to spend on a pc, get an xbox if you want to properly game be prepared to spend from 500-800€ for a basic gaming pc unless you want to build it yourself

depends , if its a choice between commodore 64 and 360 then slight edge to the 360.
asking if one should buy a car or motorcycle, well if the car is a 84 crown vic and the bike is a dugatti i would pick the latter even if i had no idea how to ride a bike.
also it depends on you and what you want, less framerates, lag and boxed resloution basically what you see what you get
vs
tower built from ground up which can run games nicley for not much investment and ability to upgrade parts as you wish.
so its no to little choice vs a whole bunch.
But to be completely serious if you just want simplicity, pop in and play and wont appreciate better visuals, frame rates and everything then go 360 they also run cheap to buy..
the new xbox will be coming before you know it and well better off buying the pc now which saves money in the long run because unles the next gen console does a 180 then you will face the same see what you get type box/investment w/ little to no options
The cons to having pc = release dates for certain games get the red head stpe chile treatment.
but
usually worth the wait now that pc optimization becoming more the trend for ports etc.
cons of having a pc = depends on your set up but i suggest building your own opposed to "designer pc's" and the skies the limit, your wallet and enthusiasm holding the key to the preformance you get but from the question alone im guessing you are not too enthused but thats ok sometimes you need to own to believe.
if this thread was a nice fat piece of trollware, well hope this comment fills the hunger.
if not well if you crave "exclusives" which some only live and die on console then ask self if this is enough reason to commit to console if having to commit to either or..
Pc's do come in handy in the real world as well, cant tell you much about it but from what i hear real world is not so bad. Im planning on visiting there one day but have too many games backlogged atm and to consider doing so now would be outrageous.

If you have the money to get a decent PC, or you have an income of sorts that would allow you to upgrade it over time then get that, but if you can only get a PC that couldn't play the games you want, and you don't have a way to make it better over time then I'd say get an xbox.

I love gaming on the 360, and I prefer it when it comes to certain games, but for sheer variety, gaming power, and controls in most games I'd go with PC. Larger selection of games, mods, and more people playing if you play any multiplayer games.

I will buy the PC or Xbox 360 But I don't have the money to buy both.
So PC vs Xbox360 Which is better to game play?
