"With that in mind, we are pleased to confirm that PC players will be able to carryover their current progression and unlocks from HITMAN 2 on Steam into HITMAN 3 on Epic Games Store. It will also be possible for PC players to import locations from the previous two games into HITMAN 3 on Epic Games Store. "

For future reference https://trace.moe is really handy at finding out what anime a pic/gif is from.
Also I've seen Railgun and recommend it.

damn that really sucks. i have hundreds of hours in hitman 2, and i've loved the whole series since the original. hopefully it's only a one-year exclusive.
edit: seems that according to engadget, it will be a one-year exclusive. source
also progress (mastery and locations) from the previous game will carry over.

Almost all of the exclusives that hit EGS are timed exclusives that last a year.

i can't think of many, but 'the sinking city' is one of the top of my head.
edit- nvm.. apparently it's on origin and microsoft store, just not steam..
edit2- little bit of googling, and i found 'dangerous driving' (on ps4 as well), and 'world war z' there may be others, but i didn't dig deep enough. i think i also heard that thps 1+2 has no plans of coming to steam, but that could always change. it's not even released yet.

right, but not all them. just wanted to confirm this was one.

Well to be honest if the one year exclusive thing means games keep getting made that's fine by me. Epic is welcome to take money from people who are happy to pay launch price and act as beta testers. And I'm equally happy to wait until the game is cheaper, patched, and comes in a GOTY version with all the DLC. Still plenty of other games for me to play in the meanwhile.
But I do love the irony. When this whole thing started it was advertised how great it would be for indie developers to have that upfront money and it would be a great boon to them, and Epic was such a good guy for doing it. And yet the companies who they have made the biggest payouts to have been big publishers like Ubisoft, for games that lots of people would buy anyway.

IO Interactive is an "indie-developer"
After hitman 1 they bought themself out of Square Enix.
Hitman 1 didn't sell enough copys for square enix so the whole franchise was gonna die. IO took the bill bought themself out and try to release the Hitman games on there own. That's also a reason why it's seasonal now.

But Warner bros is distributing it now aren't they? I wonder if the deal with Epic is through warner bros or IO directly. But WB is in trouble anyway, so I'm sure they would grab the money if given the choice.

not sure.
but there might be a deal with wb anyways because of the batman games

Yeah, who knows? But it does seem like more bigger studios are benefiting from these deals than smaller studios. Especially being as I'm sure they get paid a lot more based on projected sales. The fact that smaller studios would be able to develop games without money pressures was one of the few reasons I could see as a positive for paid exclusives. It could be justified as helping get games made that wouldn't be made otherwise. But now it feels a bit more like they are just paying to keep the games off steam.

Oh really ? Perfect, i didn't finish Hitman 2 yet so it will give me plently of time to finish it until 3 comes back to Steam.

As an independent studio, our partnership with Epic has given us the freedom to create HITMAN 3 exactly as we imagined and self-publish the game to our players directly.
That's not a detail

Far from similar. Horizon Zero Dawn was a Ps4 exclusive for 3 years because it was published by Sony and it got a pc port only to advertise their next exclusive Horizon game. We already know Hitman 3 is coming to steam sooner or later. Can you say the same about the rest of ps4-ps5 exclusives? Not really.

Yea but what's similar with HZD? Epic exclusives are timed exclusives of course they all eventually end up on steam when the deal expires, Epic doesn't own them. But playstation exclusives only end up on steam if Sony wants to, because Sony owns them and their devs. Horizon Zero Dawn and Guerrilla Games are owned by Sony my dude. There's nothing similar.
