is wolfenstein region locked?

heyy guys i am thinking about buying Wolfenstein from russian steamstore because yea 1. cheaper 2. german laws again... and on the store pages it just says smth about adding the game but not playing and i cant find anything on the steamdb page so i am asking you guys, anyone tried it and can tell me if it works?:)

Yes its region locked, http://steamdb.info/app/201810/subs/ even the ROW is locked to Germany, and RU to CIS.

I don't think they will ever unlock it or make German version, it will cost a lot to developers to censor 90% of the game, seems this game goes to German government "100% banned list" But what about Austrian version? they speak German too...

Is locked to purchase and run says, maybe you can activate it, but not play it. The ROW is even locked to trade and gift between regions, lol.

Actually there already is a censored german version. Its a bid sad that we never get uncensored games with NS-themes.. in movies its no problem, we are "allowed" to watch movies with strong use of nazi-symbols like Indiana Jones or Inglourious Basterds, but in games its an instant ban :(

Because Germany has hopelessly outdated and frankly pathetic laws regarding the use of Nazi symbols/speech.
Then again, having a far-right political party like the NPD is totally fine. Because fuck history, that's why.

There is.
The Nazis are never reverenced as Nazis, they are just "the regime". Everything is in German, the Nazis, the polish guys and of course the Americans.
Can't you just set the laguage to english? - No there is no option for this.
Couldn't you just buy it physical from amazon.co.uk and get the UK version on steam? - No, the PC version is geolocked. Which means, steam will scan your IP-address and give you the "right" version. You could use a VPN connection, to activate the game, but the connection must be up everytime you start the game. A little complicated and against the rules of Steam, since VPN connections are not allowed.
Funny enough, the Console version work without any geolock whatsoever.

You need to use VPN to activate AND play an uncut version in Germany. That's what I read.

To activate an uncut version you need to activate via VPN...don't know about playing...just play in offline mode i guess?

I can purchase the game legally in germany...öÖ So it is possible to run a copy of the game here
