And now I'm taking anti depressants and a sedative to help me sleep. Only problem is this sedative is meant to take me out or whatever, however, I'm now on day 4 of this sedative and each time I've taken it, I've just hallucinated and stayed awake for the next couple of hours generally tripping balls and feeling shit, and worst of all it makes all my limbs feel heavy and I struggle to move easily, so end up just lying in bed tripping out...

Suggestions on how to continue?

Not sure if been mentioned, but if the stuff you are taking for sleep best to do it an hour or so before bed, and when you do take it head to bed, turn the lights off and just close your eyes might take awhile but it gets you to sleep, if you're doing something like playing the computer it just stimulates your brain more and causes you to stay awake for longer periods of time.

as for the side effects you're experiencing, tell the doctor who prescribed the drugs and you should be able to try something else. i don't have any personal experience but for some reason this sort of thing is important to me so i end up reading a lot about it. my understanding is that people react differently to various anti depressants and it may take a few tries to find the best drug(s) for you personally.

here's a page full of links that can help with the depression: http://www.twloha.com/find-help/. if it's easier for you to talk to someone over the internet than face-to-face, try IMAlive. i hope you find the help you need.

Well.. for starters.. the fact that you attempted to kill yourself i think you should seek professional help.. and not just what the doctors gave you for anti-depressants and sedative.. also it sounds like that your chemical make up was not taken into consideration as some anti depressants need to be properly dosed [in other words a couple of tests should have been ran to see what your body won't flip out on] as often enough the anti-depressants will actually make the feelings of suicide or other actions much stronger..

The Next Question is.. did you take the proper dose? made sure you ate before taking them? if you are laying there tripping balls and feeling like shit i would seriously speak with a doctor about it. as to the attempt on your life.. you should really consider setting up an appointment and discussing what is on your mind. work through it if nothing else.. keep yourself busy after the medication has been properly regulated.

Hope it works out for you in the long run and if you need someone to shoot the breeze with.. not all of us are heartless bastards.. just some are more opinionated than others.

I have been depressed for over 6 years now (I'm 18). I've never taken any medication. I'd say stop with the sedative, because taking that doesn't seem to make any sense to me. If you got depressed by thinking about life too much, DON'T seek professional help, you will probably be depressed for the rest of your life. However, if you have hobbies and can still enjoy things, just do those things > problem solved.

Don't do it for your family/friends or the people who care for you. That's all you have to think about it.

Well, you can never tell a person's situation is. Family could be really abusive or something.

That's why I said "or the people who care for you" I think he is not alone, maybe I'm wrong, maybe not.

I've had a similar situation, with a different result in the end when i was younger, and while i didnt use any form of medication to get by it, i ended up realizing that, its never the end of the world, it will only get worse if you so desire.

If you can't get your head out of it, start getting busy, like REALLY busy; get a job, start a career, find a hobby....anything will do.

If you still need help, or at least talk to someone, feel free to add me; i can't promise a great advise, or a shoulder, but i will listen to every word.
