How fast is your internet speed?
My download speed is 125 kb on a good day. DSL will be to blame should I ever shoot myself. It takes 5 days to a week to download a reasonably sized game. It's also incredibly unreliable, being down half the time, and the ping is rarely under 100.

I'm getting better internet soonish. I can't wait. I'll be upgrading from 3mb to 50mb.
No more having to wait a day and a half for big games!

i have fucking 650 kb/s , nice ethernet to me , to have fast internet like 10 mb/s i need to pay 2k euros, life is good :D

Fibre Optic that cheap is almost unheard of here though. I am paying $100 a month for 200 Mbps.

Well I live in Bulgaria. I think we are famous for how low our salary is :D. If it was anything like other countries most people would be without internet XD. That said we still try to be with the times unlike some big "advanced" countries that still have internet as slow as dial-up XD.

Try living in Angola, we have 2 types of internet:
1 - 3G, Around 700 KB/s download speed but costs $9 per GB
2 - Cable, I pay $100 a month,128 KB/s download speed, no GB cost.
Option 2 is very recent, before that I used:
3 - A private ISP that charged $80 a month for 16KB/s download speed, no GB cost.
NOTE: The values are bytes, not bits.

i recently upgraded, used to get 4mb paid for 8, now i get 37mb paying for 38 so well happy :)
cheers for the giveaway :)

Agreed. I went to 105 Mbps from 50 three or four months ago. We're moving soon so I have not downgraded, but will when they transfer service. I can honestly say that the bump did jack-squat for online games. In fact, it really doesn't improve much except for the amount of devices I can have accessing my home network without a reduction in performance. If my router wasn't respectable that would probably still remain an issue even with the increased speeds. I get great Speedtest scores, but I didn't get it to inflate my e-peen. The truth is that most services out there cannot provide you data that fast (mind you, I refrain from saying ALL services). When it comes to my PS4 the DL and UL rates are the same as when I had 50 Mbps because it is maxing out the consoles hardware (around 32 Mbps DL and just over 6 Mbps UL).
All that said, judging by some of the crap speeds others on here are dealing with, I will refrain from being too annoyed that the transfer rates are inherently overkill.

You got it. Fortunately for me online gaming speeds are pretty much a non-issue since I ditched DSL (that shit sucked gonads). That being said, I know there are plenty of people here that can benefit from someone's first hand experience when deciding whether or not to upgrade, and to what extend they should do so. At one point I know Comcast used to (maybe they do not any longer) advertise their 105 Mbps accounts as if gamers would be the best customers for the market. I dropped the coin on it since my kids now have their own devices. Now I'll have four or five devices pulling on the network. Frankly, the 50 Mbps line seemed to perform nearly as well in that capacity too.

My previous ISP was a DSL, and it was becoming more and more UNreliable. Hence my switch.

I wasn't really talking about that though. I said that because for the same price I could have 1gb/s from a different provider. I'm just unable to switch due to certain circumstances. Still, 100mb/s is more than sufficient so I don't really mind.
And as you said it yourself, considering what others have, I'm not gonna complain too much :P

I had 2 MB/s a few months ago and literally cried in Spanish everyday. Now I have 5 and cry on weekends only.

jajajajaj, sorry for my laugh, but seems cry is necessary XD
but now, you only cry in wekends, nice :D

To be honest, while living in third world country my internet speed is the least of my problems. I would change it to for 2Mb/s in Sweden any day.

I managed to get a measurement of -1 ping at a hotel once, the connection was so bad that the test on either side got 400+ ping and about 27kb/s up and down.

Fiber is the future!
It's just going to take forever to get developed because ... reasons.

I seriously feel bad for big "advanced" countries. Here I am living in Bulgaria with the lowest salary in Europe and I have 100 mbps fiber optics for 15 euro and download games like the "big" GTA 5 in half an hour XD. It took a day for a friend in Spain to download it XD.

I don't have fiber...
But it is still pretty good. Well, I am also paying good for it.
Just got this connection last week, moved out from a student home where speed was ok (40mbps) but had to be shared with the other people there, and worst of all, connection was very unstable. Had a lot of packet loss there most of the time.

fast enough internet her, although at the moment I'm fighting with some stuff hooked up to my little private LAN that's causing bizarre lag spikes.

Congrats! I guess now you can start looking for some PAYDAY, huh? ;)
Edit : My bad, I'm confusing you with JBond. Urghh, I should get some sleep now.... =.='

a friend i usually play with pays for 40mbps and only gets 15mbps... if lucky because at night it goes to less than 1mbps and ping goes crazy (when we play together at night his ping gets to 200-250), he always complain because (like almost everyone) he can only play at night and the isp won't move a muscle to fix it
4G is not the future of internet for sure

It's been a long time, but I finally upgraded my internet yesterday. For the last few years, I was paying for what was supposed to be decent, but the best I ever got was around 14 Mb/s.
(
Delta was nice enough to point out that I was getting ripped off.)
Most of the time it was closer to 4 Mb/s even though I was paying for 12 Mb/s. Well, slow speeds no longer! Here's a couple of tests I've run since upgrading.
Test 1
Test 2
As you would imagine, I've very happy with my new service and excited, so what better way to celebrate than with my fellow SGers?
Anyway, here's a
small
giveaway in celebration.http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/nnNRM/
