Exactly! All you needed was a dark room, a crappy headset, the most crappy monitor you could find, a keyboard, and you got yourself an awesome experience ;)

I'm honestly curious! not looking to bash on anybody's likings or dislikes... why aren't games like Silent Hill more successful?
Please share your thoughts....

I think I recently watched a TED show where they said the average gamer's age is about at 25 in these days, I think... This would explain why we have a bunch of 2D and old-school-like games that get released so often, since they cater to this audience, people that played on a crappy NES or equivalent console when they were kids, now they're old, have jobs, and can afford to buy games... But it doesn't explain why the hell even these games look like cartoons?? O.o

I, for example, am a huge Silient Hill fan, think the game is fing awesome and stuff; or any game in this style would get the exact response from me...
Anyway, I don't see people freaking out about this kind of games, all I see are kids obsessed with cartoony-funny-shiney-flowery games... (ie. wow, tf2, HATS, borderlands, etc, etc.). The more crappy-cartoony graphics and the less complex gameplay, the more success. Am I looking in the wrong place?
