Every single DRM in the world is crackable. It's just a matter of time.

That's why people shouldn't support companies that force this kind of protection on them. They're punishing honest customers, while pirates just have to wait a little bit longer to play a DRM free copy of the same game.

Exactly, instead of spending time and resources on DRM bullshit make your game worth buying.

Yeah. And that's why was all should send a message by only supporting GOG and trusted developers :(

But that IS the purpose of DRM, to make pirates wait a little bit longer to play the game. The gaming industry is all about WHEN you can play a game, not IF you can play it. The longer they can delay when you can play the game (through pirating), the more of a chance there is that you will buy the game instead of waiting.

If you think about it, that is what it is about even without pirating. You can pay $60 and get the game as soon as it comes out, or you can wait a little and get it for $40, or wait some more and get it for $20, etc.

You are paying for WHEN you get to play it, not IF you get to play it.

If that was true the DRM should be removed once pirates crack it/game goes on sale to remove hassle for legit customers. Sadly, what we see is pirates playing day later hassle-free games working better and faster after DRM overhead removal :|

Actually, Razor has already cracked DA:I which had Denuvo during Nov. 15. I won't give you the link to the exact page but I'll give you the google hint: "dragon age inquisition deluxe razor".

that comment, lol.
"Denuvo is said to introduce severe performance problems. Now that is regrettable but I guess that is something paying customers just have to live with, to have the satisfaction of knowing that no filthy pirates are playing the game which they paid for."

At least now we may 'officially' see this put this to rest in the near future.
Is it the DRM causing problems even though FIFA and DA:I seem to have no such problems (afaik), or are the masses right in saying that Lords of the Fallen is just bad. :v

LotF is badly programmed, maybe DRM adds something on it's own, but most problems comes from gamecode itself.

I'm sure it is! People say it's just as awful on consoles, haha.

But last I heard the devs themselves were blaming the DRM for performance issues, of course they point the finger in the other direction, so I'd like to see how well it stacks up DRM-free. ;p

LotF devs said that performance problems are NOT related to DRM.

Imagine how far this industry have come if they even blame themselves just so their shareholders don't get their delusions of DRM effectivity shattered.

Some of this games are actually... playable.
One or two :)

Ok, maybe more. I only know Alien Rage (meh), Art of Murder (AFAIK not bad, not my kind of games so I can't say firsthand - my bro liked it, but he likes tons of stuff ;) ), Sniper Ghost Warrior (meh), Terrorist Takedown (yuck), Enemy Front (meh) and LotF (apparently, their first good gameplay game, but full of technical issues...).

Welp, my dyslexia strikes again. I coulda sworn they blamed it. /shrug. ah well. Better than I expected of them, at least.

And Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the only thing I'm familiar with in that whole list. It wasn't the woooorst thing I've ever played. Was kind of cheesy, though.

Actually Denuvo reduces performance (mostly while loading terrain) but LotF optimization (or rather lack of it) is the main reason for it's crappy working.

Denuvo is said to wear out SSD much faster than regular use programs. Well, if this proves to be true, at least the developers have all that sweet dough they made from not losing so many sales to pirates. They're gonna need it to deal with all the incoming lawsuits.

That's why i wont buy stuff with this trash drm in.
I don't care if that's true or not, I won't risk for my cute SSD :C

That's another thing I'd like to see.

I'm not interested in anything that has it so far, but should something ever come out with it, I don't want to risk my SSDs, either, if that's the case. They're too expensive. :c

Anyway, if it's just a fake info, idc, EA spent money to use that trash drm, well EA won't get my money ;D !

For one, who cares what they say? They want to sell. They're already selling a lie so might as well lie to sell it.

Also, "allows EA to reap the benefits of stamping out all piracy attempts in the crucial first weeks of a title’s release."
They make it very clear their product is a driving factor in the continued success of total blunders, among review embargos and the downfall of actual demo versions.

SteamGifts is related to playing games. DRM are related to games. The news of a brand-new, supposedly unbreakable DRM being eventually cracked can be interesting for whoever wishes to be informed of gaming-related news.

Family sharing, would be another (and legal) option if you know someone who has it ;)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have this thing where I don't trust anyone with my passwords (perhaps not the person as much as their system security), and I think family sharing still requires you to share your password with that person, but even so, only 3 people on my friends list own this game and they are not actual friends who would share their passwords with me, and I am no different.

btw, my illegal way of testing the game (which is not really illegal in my country) would still get the publisher their money if the game works as it should, while the family sharing thing would not get them a cent since I would be able to beat the whole game legally without purchasing it.

So it's not even legit. They "cracked" it, but aren't sharing.
I'd assume this means they just got it to boot and there's no guarantees that it works in-game. :P

Apparently there has been many games where crack has been incomplete causing issues: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/29/eight-of-the-most-hilarious-anti-piracy-measures-in-video-games

They cracked it, they're just waiting now to put their own DRM on top of the DRM in order to sell the DRM-crack with their own DRM so they can earn money!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Anyways, what's the point of new drm if it will be cracked a few months later after the first few titles using it are released? Just to sell a few copies more to the ppl that are curious about the game or to fool ppl for a bit since they can't try it out before buying? Specially this drm that ppl are reporting write a lot in disks and ssd, lowering it's lifetime sooner.

"Unstealable" games sound nice to shareholders who don't play them and don't know anything about the technical aspects of DRM, therefore publishers push it.

In USA, you can go to prison for not maximizing shareholders returns. What would you pick, troll with one share suing you for not "protecting" the product, or paying extra to cover your ass? Sadly, it's almost impossible to prove a negative...
