I've been watching the price of Saints Row: The Third over at THQ UK site. It offers the same good inclusive package as the US site, but it's only on sale on the UK side. There's one strike. Last month they had it on sale for 50% off, but I missed it. Now it's on sale for 40% off, and I wanted to watch if it got better. Wrong move, as they pulled a serious asshole move and upped the "regular" price from 29.99 to 39.99 GBP, to make the 40% an even worse deal. That ups it's retail price to over $62 USD. Wanted to point out this shitty turn of events, and also curious if it is more likely THQ themselves, or Digital River, who handles the digital distribution when you buy.

Consider that justice for all the sales and competitions we never get over here. :P

In answer to your post though, I think it's more likely to be THQ that sets the price, since they're the developers of the game. Digital River may have some influence ("We won't go above X price or below Y price.") but I think THQ would have the final say.

It's THQ's fault. They're the publisher, they set the price.

THQ have had serious problems as of late. It's so bad that rumours went around that they had completely cancelled their 2014 lineup. The way they handled Saints Row 3 left a really bad taste in my mouth. They deliberately left out a lot of features so they could sell them as DLC. Then they announced 40 seperate pieces of DLC and charge $3 for cheats... FU THQ.

After I heard the DLC scheme for Saints Row 3, I lost all interest in picking it up within the foreseeable future. I don't mind DLC in general, but the SR 3 version is down right insulting.

Maybe they will do a complete pack later on, but that is the only time I'll buy it.

Yeah, I felt about the same on the DLC, and figured complete pack in a year or so was about the only way to go. Game and season pass for about $25 seemed maybe decent enough, but now they blew that like a fat wad.
Thanks for the info, BTW.
