Hi everyone, I always participate in sweepstakes of games that the own developers offers, as many of you.
This week the publishing Dream Games distributes keys to the game Operation Caucasus pre-released on May 23 this year.
The scheme was to go to their facebook page and ask for a key, that's what I did ...
The answer was negative, because I use the colors of the rainbow on my profile picture and they said they did not support LGBT and "kindly" asked me to go f*ck myself. Then they blocked me, preventing me from posting the print on their facebook page.

Follows the print: http://imgur.com/tru0YgE

  • A friend who got the key, passed me, and through it I can post the print on the review of the game:

http://steamcommunity.com/id/niveadc/recommended/442180 <<<

Anyone who wants to help, can mark as a useful analysis to stay on top.

Link the publishing page on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Dream%20Games

Link of the game on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/442180

I had already warned that in the post on the given keys https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/JMwgGKR but with a own topic, the message reaches more people

Since tempering with messages are so easy I don't see the weight of them as "proof" anymore.

Ofc if it's all true then they should be wiped from the face of the internet with their crap game. Good thing Steam invented the Greenlight system...

If the allegations are false, then the dev should say so. So far, that doesn't seem to have happened.

A further complication is that this is NOT a Greenlight title, meaning the dev payed money to publish the game on Steam. Why develop and publish a game only to alienate your audience afterwards?

I'm not going to speculate more, but there's definitely something fishy about the dev.

Update: The dev replied to Niv's review and stated that "We'll never support "lgbt". We're not a toy.
This is our freewill."

The auto-joiner crowd ranting at SG staff for 'making the site too unreasonable to use [by adding an anti-flooding security element that happened to catch extreme entry spams by auto-joiners]' was especially ..special.. most notably when they mentioned that soon all the users of the site would be leaving it [because who would use it without an autojoiner?].

And here we are, looking at their obscene ratios (like 200/3) and thinking "Well, if you left, it could only be good for the site"..

Eh. I'm an only child, a rather pampered one. I am a selfish egocentric asshole, but I at least know the basics on how to act in a society, be it real or on the internet. I see more correlation with political affinity (and to a degree with country of origin) than upbringing in the behaviour you described.

For example, Americans value individuality, whereas in most Eastern European people expect the state to do everything, sometimes down to solving their own personal problems. People in the Mediterranean and often in South America have a more leisured view on life, which can translate to annoyances like an almost genetic-level inability to be even remotely punctual, whereas many South-Eastern Asians tend to organise everything, literally everything down to milliseconds.
Of course, one could make the standard country stereotype list, but that list is funny because it is mostly true. An Italian never shuts up, yet they in reality use their hands to communicate—the words are nothing but a rhythmic melody for the hand-waving. A German is a stick-in-the-ass as long as they don't get their hands on a keg of beer. Hungarians are about as optimistic in life as an emo convention. Russians respect strength in authority, otherwise they do whatever the fuck they want. French argue—with anyone, over anything. The list could go on.
And all of these translate to certain personality traits you can associate with certain nations.

Stereotypically? That you are the jolly versions of Germans. A little too hung up on past and traditions, but not in the sense that it is detrimental, but sometimes a little amusingly nostalgic.
We use the word "brother-in-law" for Austrians (leftover from the Habsburg Monarchy days), and it really translates to viewing you as some sort of a relative—not a close one, but one you can just hang around to have a drink with.

a jolly version of germans?
what we have mostly in common with them is that things we do have to work but unlike them the way to do it is not written in stone for us.
we are not that jolly, just not as stuck up as germans.
the nostalgia is more or less something that sustains our touristic industry.
the brother in law thing is basically the same way we see you but we see the czech republic also as a brother in law.

Most people who hold that view and state such things are implying that true freedom of speech should mean that all language no matter how hateful or incendiary (including "I want you to go forth and kill[random group of people we don't like]!") should be treated the same as someone expressing an opinion. I have heard this before, almost always from right-of-center all the way to fascist people.

First of all nowhere does Niv state either their gender or sexual preference, and although that should be immaterial it is upon those things you are basing some of your assumptions as did the developer.

The fact that you don't even realize that someone asking for a free key and then being insulted in such a hateful way is problematic suggests you will probably not grasp the concept of how utterly contemptible the dev is being.

Jesus Christ... How are the publishers homophobic for this? I don't support the rainbow flag either because it is tied to so much bullshit for example the people undressing and walking naked in front of kids on the street and performing sexual activities all in the name of their "pride". What the f*ck man, being homosexual doesn't give the rights to violate common decency. The gay parades and the rainbow flag are tainted with indecency and disliking it has nothing to do with one's perspective on homosexual people/transgender etc.

Hoooowever, I can see that you are frustrated if the publishers did in fact make trash comments about people who are not straight but that is a completely different thing. People do have a right to stand up for themselves and their opinions though no matter how disturbing it may be to some, which also means that homosexuality shouldn't necessarily be shoved down people's throats because that is just oppressive. No opinion should be forced onto someone.

What a vast generalisation "underessing and walking naked in front of kids" as if everyone who isn't straight is some kind of exhibitionist!

Homosexuals performing sexual activities in the street = bad.
Hetrosexuals talking about/performing sexual acts in the mass media = role models.

There are tons of nudist heterosexual people, who fight for their right to walk freely on public beaches. There are tons of heterosexual people who not only normally kiss in the streets, but have normal, open sex and noone is saying anything. Every TV advertisement, pretty much every movie or TV show is showing heterosexual people (well now it's slowly changing).

So why are you saying that it's homosexuality that is shove down anyone's throat? You can see extreme example everywhere: among young and elder people, women and men, cis and transgender, heterosexual and homosexual. And it doesn't say single thing about group as a whole.

And I completely agree, there's nothing inherently bad with our bodies, children won't get corrupted by seeing someone nude or anything. It's natural, it's normal, it's something every one has. Nudity does not have to be sexualized. I sometimes wonder if these people get horny when there's women sunbathing in a beach topless, or I dunno, a man running shirtless down the street. If your posture, attitude and activity is not sexual, nudity does not have to be sexual either.

I've been to nudist beaches and first time you might peek, but after a while everything just kinda blends into the enviroment. By giving such an importance to nudity, to the point that in some western cultures is kinda tabooish, you put more meaning to it,, it's the desire of what is forbidden.

"How are the publishers homophobic for this?"
You really don't understand?
That's like asking "How are the publishers racist for this?" if they replied with "You're black, fuck off, we don't support your kind"

Being a member of a group doesn't mean you inherit all of the sins of the group. No group is a hivemind.
Your mention of the parades is a massive red herring and strawman wrapped up in one.

There is a MASSIVE difference between having an opinion or belief, and going around telling people to fuck off because you don't like their race, sexuality or denomination. If I don't like the colour green and a stranger wearing a green shirt walks up to me, does randomly telling them to fuck off constitute "defending my opinion"? No, it means I'm acting like a child with no regard for civility. Nobody said you had to like everyone you meet. You can hold any opinion and belief you want, but that doesn't mean every way you act on those opinions and beliefs are automatically cool.

The only way the dev was being 'forced upon', was by receiving a PM that they had invited by means of the giveaway.
Nobody even forced them to reply, and when they did they also chose to create the conflict.

No, that would be more like this "You're with Black Lives Matters, fuck off, we don't support your kind".

I mentioned that the parades have been tainted by some individuals who are indecent, that's about it so stop altering my message. I also didn't say that the publishers weere forced opon any opinions but I said that opinions in general shouldn't be forced onto other people like dictatorship. I think that you agree with me that being forced to some things isn't nice.

Do YOU understand?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see, so you're saying they didn't actually assume anything about that person's sexuality, they were just being offensive and crude in a professional capacity due to a POLITICAL aversion? Oh well then, that makes ALL the difference. They get a free pass now!
Except that they don't, as it would still obnoxious, unprofessional and effectively racist to disassociate (or be aggressive towards) someone for supporting a rights movement. Direct or indirect, when you deny service explicitly for these reasons, it amounts to the same thing. The flag is not an explicit symbol of pride parades or extremism, it is a simple symbol of support. The developer didn't elaborate, they simply dropped their little bomb and left it at that. They simply didn't care to give any other message but 'fuck you', and so they have nobody but themselves to blame if their standpoint is something with any remote shred of common decency or rationality to it.

Occams razor says they don't.

And yes, you mentioned 'forcing things upon' people as well as pride extremists where it had no previous part in the discussion, which implies heavily you were bringing it to the forefront as something relevant. It wasn't relevant. So either you were using a red herring, or you were making a non-sequitur that amounts to an attempted distraction. \:3/

Lets take the race example further. Lets say this time the devs told someone to fuck off because they were white.
Then lets say that person made a thread about it.
Your post was the equivalent of someone coming in and saying "There are these people from white interest groups who curbstomp black people and stole millions from banks through fraud!", how does that amount to anything but a thinly veiled attempt at lending credence to the ill behavior of the dev?

Deterministic grammar is a thing of the past. Scholars are shifting towards descriptivism. You cannot dictate how a language evolves and words mean what we make them to mean.

Would you shit on Shakespeare for verbalizing nouns?

Comment has been collapsed.

Well he said something was rotten in Denmark, so yeah I would high five him with a shovel to the face xD

I get your point, but my point is by diluting and changing the definition of words, communication gets worse, not better. If I say I hacked some fags with an axe, people would lose their shit, even though fag used to mean a bundle of sticks. (The South Park episode about that word is pretty awesome btw).

It's the same when people mean figuratively but say literally instead. It means the exact opposite, so now we have to guess what people really mean. Languages evolve by having some words become obsolete and fade out, as new words enter. Problem is when you start changing words, diluting them or outright take "ownership" over them. For instance a lot of people say Negro is racist, not knowing negro is the italian, spanish and portugese word for the colour (well hue) black (it comes from niger (yes 1 g not 2), which is the latin word for the colour black btw).

Not all changes to words or their meaning is a good thing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not dilluting their meaning, it just changes as society and humakind changes with it and you just have to adapt. Many words have different meanings that what they used to.

The literally stuff it's a hyperbole which is a pretty valid figure of speech and I never understood what all the fuss was about. I mean, if I said that the Petronas towers rise to the moon, it's obvious that they don't actually touch the moon, but I just took the liberty of exaggerating their height for ilustrative purposes.

As with negro, well, it has been used as a racist slur, so it's normal that people have confilcted feelings about it, if I was speaking in Spanish, no one would have a problem if I said, my camiseta es negra, or whatever. but if I'm speaking English and I state something on the lines of "You, negro, go back to the jungle" people would get (understandably and deservedly) upset. There's a difference.

That's a straw man. You cannot claim to know the reasons for why people don't like/understand/whatever LGBT people. Some people might be fine with gays, but think queers are batshit insane (Like Milo Yiannopolousm who is gay).
There are many degrees of "not liking lgbt's" and equally lots of reasons. Maybe some have some religious fear that homosexuality is something you catch, but I still would never classify it as a phobia.

Ironically homo is the Latin word for man, so technically you can't be homophobic towards lesbians for instance, just to make things more confusing. Also in that way homophobic really means anxiety/irational fear of men, not lgbt. It just goes all clusterfracky.

That's the problem with just looking at the surface, you miss context.
They weren't begging.

Also, being an egalitarian goes deeper than the barest surface rights. Inequal treatment is a part of it. In this case, the dev didn't opt to simply decline, they chose to be unprofessionally hostile AND confirm the reasons for doing so was using a symbol of the LGBT movement. That's a far from cry equal treatment. Had this been just an individual, this could have fallen within the boundary of just some asshole being an asshole, but it isn't. That person was acting on behalf of a game dev group who sell products, and therefore they are subject to the common superpower of basic observation, and all the follow-on repercussions that entails. :P

That's a question of definition. For me egalitarianism is simply equal rights, not equal opportunity or equal outcome. So the political doctrine, not the social one (which is essentially marxism).

Denying service based on sex, race, orientation, etc is part of the 'equal rights' equation.
While it is a giveaway and it may be within their rights to determine who can apply, they conducted themselves in a transparently prejudiced manner while acting as a member of their devgroup. There isn't any room for interpretation here. Had they declined and not given a specific reason, they would have been totally in the clear, however they underlined prejudice as the cause and behaved in an abhorrent manner (again, I stress) while acting as a professional / commercial entity.

I'm a little confused as to how you feel this isn't an egalitarian matter.
Had it been an individual expressing an individual opinion, that'd be different. However when they act on behalf of their group, while they are making sales and offering product, that isn't strictly informal exchange. It expands into the subject of "Should a store have the right to refuse service to [insert denomination here]".

I completely agree. It's a very weird way to behave for a company.

separatism

You may want to read [this] and consider using a term that doesn't nearly mean the opposite of your usage :P

tl;dr the phrase is used to mean "to separate away from", ie, to form an entirely new, exclusive group by leaving or overthrowing the old.
Last I checked, noone was wanting to go found a new nation or toss bigots into the ocean.
Well, wanting to, sure, but not openly advocating it as a movement. :P

Also, you seem to think only extremist outlooks exist..? o.O;

Also separatism has become a buzzword, an empty statement used to devaluate dissenting thoughts.

Hate speech isn't a crime, but it is illegal in most states to discriminate during a contest of any kind based on any normal discriminatory groups, so yeah, they committed a crime most likely, well done dev.

Damn those homophobic developers. How the hell can't they just accept and live in peace with homosexuals. I mean, the homos can't reproduce without any other external meanings. They are a true example of mental illness for every educational institute. They are a pleasure to see in public holding hands and exchanging "smoothies". And btw, yeah, homosexuality is a mental illness, a disease ... the way mother nature is telling us to disappear. We are already doing a great job with wars, climate changing due to pollution, etc. Now, why not be gay and stop breeding? So stop qq-ing about being gay and not being accepted...especially on the Internet...and especially here on Steamgifts. It's pathetic. This is not a website about politics, religion, economy and sexual orientations. It's a fking gaming website for gamers, with games, who want games...keyword...games. As i said in the past, i'll get blacklisted again by homo activists and I really don't give a damn. Do it ... just do it ... and prove yourself you have the power !!!

Interesting (if totally uneducated) hypothesis. If homosexuality is a disease, then what are the vectors?
Homosexuality has existed forever in 'mother nature', how does this influence your 'opinion'? Also, why are you so concerned about population decline when the only species that have a greater populace are insects? Why are you so concerned about other people's sex lives?

And yes, it's a gaming website. You'll find that a dev that needlessly causes conflict over their prejudices still falls within 'videogame stuff'. This isn't about people 'qq'ing about not being accepted, this is all about laughing at a shitty game dev.

It's funny you call the subject pathetic, but then make a desperate, clawing attempts at self-elevation like this.
Oh well.

Don't bother to be role model. It's not working out for you. It's not working out for me either...but at least i'm not the one addressing directly to someone in this topic to go fuck themselves. And as long as the minority attitude regarding the homo's rights is based on insults, the majority (the normal people), us , will never fully accept you. I hope that my country will never approve the homosexual rights ... and they won't. So please go in a cave and leave the normal people live in peace.

And by the way ... bigot is related to religion ... and I didn't bring up any religion facts. So next time come better prepared when it comes to words you can't even use properly ... incult. If you desire to have the final word, go ahead. I won't bother replying again ... it's useless.

Full Definition of bigot
: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

>mfw when it says nothing about religion

We're real human.
We can't change our believes.
You're christian? You can't support "lgbt".
You're not following any religion? There is no reason for the support "lgbt" for you.
In America, your parents teach you wrong. This is not the true way.
If you'll understand it, you'll be a real human.
If you'll not understand that, you'll be just a "mutation" version of human.

Uroboros 4 minutes ago
I see, so if a person chooses not to express or act on their prejudices within a professional capacity, they are a mutant.

You have literally just said that.

Bahaha, and they just replied to the review with this :

"We're real human.

You're christian? You can't support "lgbt".
You're not following any religion? There is no reason for the support "lgbt" for you.

If you'll not understand that, you'll be just a "mutation" version of human."

So basically if you choose not to act on your prejudices within a professional setting, you're a mutant.
Also, even if you're not religious, you have no reason to not randomly tell LGBT giveaway entrants to 'fuck off'.
Also it's 'not the true way' to not randomly give strangers shit for no reason.

For some reason that old minecraft meme comes to mind :
