I liked games like Tank Battle, Stratego, Chess, and that Star Trek boardgame when I was a kid. About impossible to find people who still play boardgames nowadays though, unless you consider D&D a boardgame.

Talisman (by Games Workshop)

I like Catan an awful lot, but sometimes... Sometimes I just miss Hungry Hungry Hippos.

I played the hell out of Catan in one high school summer camp.

My favorite is 4-player chess using Knightmare Chess cards. They turn a game of strategy into utter chaos! :P
