In a 1999 BBC interview, George Lucas defended the character Jar Jar Binks, stating that fans didn't like Jar Jar because they didn't like humor. Lucas even made the working title of Episode II "Jar Jar's Big Adventures. His second draft of the films script had the same name to prank the cast and crew.
