I remember trying out Action Quake, but all my friends played D-Day Normandy at the time. Fun times.

Played both i probably had like 2k or 3k hours in Quake.
You could call those mods Counter strike Zero Early acces Demo .
played more realistic ones with friends but alone i would always play the fast paced mods .D
Overall weird i want quake to be fast ,but i want COD to be oldschool .

Well, Navy Seals mod was the inception of Counter-Strike. :) I remember my friend bringing it over on a zip disk.
I also definitely played hundreds of hours of Action Quake.

I had a friend who was huge into the mapping community. So every week he would be making me try out new mods and new maps.

Don't think so, I have a very bad memory tho...
Thanks for the chance :)

I wasn't aware of internet until 2002 and gained access to it only in 2005/2006. It took me half of the year to discover game modding and coincidentally the first "mod" I ever used was done manually by me, in mspaint, in some Doom clone. First "official" mod was of course Counter Strike, just a few months later. Good times.

You know, putting "mod" in quotes and describing what you did...I guess my first mod was by me in the mid-late 90s, playing Warcraft II. I found that the sound effects were all wav files and I recorded my own derpy ones and replaced them. Made the game hilarious, if not annoying.
Also, holy crap. I just looked and I still have all of the files I made. I don't know why I hold onto this stuff. I suppose they're small files and it doesn't matter.

About the question, nope. I never tried both of them :/

Was mostly playing adventure games, Total Annihilation, and Sim City 2000 in the days of Quake, until Unreal Tournament came along. And then Team Fortress Classic (never played the original TF).

My friend and I picked up TA on release day when the store opened.
We got free T-shirts with the game.

The last Quake 2 I played was the demo.
The boxed version of the demo.
Yes, I bought the demo.

Thanks for this amazing giveaway.

Never played any of those games with or without mods :(

The first shooter I played was CS 1.5 and only because my friends were playing it at the time.
I never played any of the oldschool Quake games but I did try Quake Champions when it went free but lost interest when I realized that the "players" with weird names were just bots and that I was playing with bots most of the time... and losing constantly.
Anyway, happy cakeday and thanks for the gibs! 😄

Back in the day I used to play AQ2 at a friend's house, those were the days... Welp, now I feel old ;)

i've played a navy seals mod, but on quake 1, and so many mods on quake1, never tested mods on quake2, this game is a masterpiece.
i'd search for mods in internet, and some quakemods-websites can be found nowadays

Weirdly enough never heard of either, despite playing the shit out of Q2 back in the days

Nope never heard. I've only played Quake 3 arena and 1-2 story. I wasn't really interested in mods back in days i had no idea. Looks really cool tho if i knew i would enjoy it probably.
