Remember in Jurassic Park when Dr. Grant said, "even the word 'raptor' means bird of prey?"
He was full of dino-crap. Raptor comes from a latin word roughly meaning to seize something. Birds of prey are called raptors because they seize/abduct their prey.
Interestingly, this is also where we get words like 'rape' and 'rapture.'
The reason Christians refer to the event of Jesus suddenly taking his peeps with him as The Rapture is because of a verse in the Bible:
"After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." 1 Thessalonians 4:17
You know what Oviraptor means? Egg seizer. Now, go look up the history of the Oviraptor... if you like science at all, it is quite interesting.
