But in all seriousness, not gonna touch this one. It's more entertaining to read the controversy behind it. People saying it's terrible and an excuse for the author to get their character as a Steam background/emote, and apparently a character had to be removed from the game because it was a copyrighted fictional species and they didn't want to pay royalties to its creator...

That's interesting, I didn't know about a controversy... Usually I don't research these giveaways much/at all, which leads to useless descriptions as you may have noticed. If something I don't own has a big discount, sometimes I remember to buy an extra one for a giveaway, but usually I don't bother since I buy a lot of garbage. Oh well. :)

That's a pretty exhaustive list. The only thing I can think that's missing is checking around for those elusive coupons. Major\Minor had 50% ones floating around, and someone rightly commented on their announcement that it was a little dishonest when it said 35% was "the cheapest the game has been since launch". And oh dear, should Major Mayhem ever be given away as a freebie...
But hey, at least you don't own the trashiest game on Steam!

Whenever there's a new freebie and it's been removed from the giveaway list, there's always a handful of people who try to give it away as something else; usually a DLC of the game or game with a similar name or common word. When fiftykyu said "if you see 10 different giveaways for a game" I just imagined a flood of this game :)
Check out how many giveaways have been deleted for Dino D-Day's DLC, Lucius Bundle (Lucius), Adventures of Tree (as Woodle Tree), etc.

I remember stumbling upon this game a while ago and reading some of the reviews out of curiosity. IIRC some of them mentioned that there was an ingame celebrity that all the characters were fawning over... who happens to have the same name as the dev. Subtle. :P

It could also have been the best-case scenario, where the game was taken down while the dev spends some time fixing the issues people had with it. One review mentions that "Klace has formally apologized for his actions", although I'm not sure what that could refer to. Another likely possibility is that the game proper wasn't finished when it was listed for sale.
In any case, I doubt the game will ever manifest itself in any widely acceptable form, given the Dev's apparent love affair with himself, the apparently bad writing, and ludicrously ostentatious character designs.
All this is just hearsay and opinions though, of course. There's not much information to be found on steam other than in the reviews on the demo, and those vary widely.
