That's a good question. Not sure I can remember to be honest. Most of my first RPGs were on one of the consoles I think. Does Zelda count?

Not really sure the absolute first, but the most memorable one was Suikoden II.

It was a time when there were so many JRPGs that all the names just blend together. Chrono Legend Story, and whatnot. But Suikoden stood out.

First RPG would be Pokemon Red ... I think. Used to play on a Gensis/Mega Drive before that but I think they were mostly platformers/beat em ups.
