I was always George, and my brother Ralph. We had it on... probably Amiga 500, but before that we had a Commodore 64 so maybe on that if it existed then.

for those who don't know, this was one of those rare arcade games where you could play in more than 2, in this case 3

Was an almost-guaranteed thing for any side-scrolling arcade game (I'm not actually sure I ever saw one that didn't have 3-4 player support, rather, barring those that only had two playable characters to begin with), which was one of the three main categories of pre-DDR arcade games along with light gun shooters and fighting games, so not especially rare. What made Rampage unusual was that it retained its full player capacity after being ported to home consoles, whereas most ported arcade games dropped down to a lower cap of two players (or in the case of the NES port of Ninja Turtles, just a single player! Booooo.)

the only ones I recall are Rampage, Gauntlet and a game similar to Alien Syndrome whose name I don't remember. if there where shooting games with guns and rifles, I didn't play them so no idea. about 3-4 players side scrolling, I guess you mean beatem up games, but I only recall 2 players ones of that kind.
