I've always liked The Thing (1982)

I don't particularly like a lot of horror movies; things with jump scares are really "blah" to me. That said, Late Phases (2014) is pretty awesome and can be called "horror."

If you have seen the latest and greatest you must have seen the babadook, if not, it's a must!!

Fifty Shades of Grey..? Just kidding, Here's a list of one's I've enjoyed:

Insidious and Orphan are decent horros movies too.
Gone Girl isn't really horror but I found it to be much scarier than most horror films.

Cannibal Holocaust. It's old, and not over scary. but it is the only movie in a long time to lead me to have bad dreams the night that i watched it

No one can beat classics like The Shining

I don't really do horror movies, but I think horror/thriller enthusiasts would be interested in checking out a pair of early Disney movies: The Watcher in The Woods and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Just for historical interest if nothing else. I find their existence interesting because Disney isn't exactly known for horror movies.
