When I joined, I 100% thought it was a shady scam site. But then I checked the discussions. The users sounded like actual people on the internet. Meaning, a mix of nincompoops, some normal and wholesome people.
Definitely needs a lot of work but honestly most of the work needs to be done on the community end. Long haulers are actively driving off new people and the cv reduction game only affects new people which again drives a lot of people away.
If I was to answer this (but I was the one asking the question :D) , I'd say that most of the features that I use are external to SG. Es-GT , Rachart, Sg Tools, many scripts.
All of this should be standard features of the site, and not "mods"
Ahhh, to that part I could agree (unless those functions should make it much more slower for other users that doesn't need those). But if the modernization would be like more flashy, extra chances for watching and etc type of "new way" then it would be a nono
let you set a minimum price for games so your page isnt filled with 1p "hentai with your mom" and these weird games,
and at least add a captcha every few entries so you'd have less bots.
also have steam regions as a choice when creating giveaways, i dont wanna individually pick a hundred countries instead of clicking LATAM MENA and call it a day, it's been a year since steam announced these regions and still no update here.
Without ESGST, I couldn't use the site anymore. So, yes. But we need another admin for this, as CG is done with SG. Mentally, at least. His body still lingers on. Like a wraith.

yeah, it looks like facebook from 2010,
they can at least show game reviews/score,

ESGST takes care of the modernization for PC.
Would be nice to see a similar ESGST Grid UI in a phone app.
Could also make it more fun and interactive to make giveaway pages, and unlock features for puzzles, quizzes and such.
