The first game is really good, and even though the gameplay is a little clunky the story is simply amazing, specially if you like science fiction with very nice plots and tough decision-making with real consequences in the game. The second game makes use of everything the first game started, but the pace is faster, better gameplay and the next part of an already extremely engaging story. If I were you I would give it a shot in a very near future. The graphics may be a little outdated now but both games deserve your attention, but in order to really enjoy Mass Effect 2 (which is the best of the trilogy), it's recommended you play Mass Effect 1 (and use your save to continue the story with the choices you've made previously).
I'd say Mass Effect 2. Just love it.

Borderlands 2! Even after over 300 hours of it I sometimes feel tempted to start it up with a fresh character when I'm really bored.
