After playing round about 60 hours now, I can say it's a fun game
While solo mode on the first week wasn't much fun, it's now playable imo. But I'd still recommend playing it co-op. If you have friends you can play with, even better!
Don't expect a true souls-gameplay, though. It's very fast-paced and you have barely time to even think about what you're doing

Playing solo might be not as fun for some people, I assume. The game was definitely made for co-op. The solo mode (and upcoming duo mode) was only considered because Japanese test players asked for it. A Japanese friend of mine told me that. But they at least improved the solo experience
And even if you don't have any friends to play with, playing with randoms is always an option. Surely there are some bad eggs, but most randoms I was playing with were fine. Since the game has been out for a few weeks, people know how to move and stuff, so it might feel like being pushed around a bit when you're a newbie

I play on PS5 with randoms, I agree most runs are pretty good to be honest. Occasionally you get someone that is utterly clueless and messes up the entire run either from being slow, or by going places alone.
