It was a painting of Bill Hicks that I did for my sister as a Christmas gift - she was a really big fan. Sometimes when I do portraits it feels like the people I'm drawing do most of the work, like it is a thing already there waiting to be made real if that makes any kind of sense...
To be fair it was a great photo that I was using as a reference but I really enjoyed experimenting with far more dramatic contrasts than my usual stuff.
