Everyone's point total is slightly eroded regularly. I don't know the formula, but it does happen.
The point, I imagine, is that you can't just stop doing giveaways and expect to remain at your level forever. It discourages complacency and avoids the worse case scenario where site activity eventually grinds to a halt*.
*like IndieGala's giveaway section is slowly doing, because they have such a nonsense point system
Really? I didn't even know that, I just thought that a few of the games I gave away in the past had price drops or something.

It's rarely noticeable unless you just barely leveled up and then it hits. I only started to notice in my push to level 7, when I was watching my score closely.
The important lesson is not to worry too much about your level. I think I'm going to just tread water for a while, doing enough giveaways to make my whitelist meaningful. At least until I have work again :/

No digit, work is out there! :D I'm not worried about my lvl, but it would be nice to have a high lvl. It means, that you give away a lot of games :)
