Lisa. She says her name is Lisa. As you continue to inquire about her situation, you learn that she was torn from her parents' side along with her younger brother. What's worse, her brother has already been taken deeper into the cathedral, through the door behind the altar. You ask her if she remembers anything of her captors, but she can think of only one word to describe them: monsters. You tell her that everything will be okay, that you will look for him if she can describe him to you. It'll be an easy recognition since the poor boy is missing his left leg. The tragic produce of a buried mine. You give Lisa one more condoling smile, before you proceed to the altar. Emotionally exhausted, she falls asleep on the bench, her hands folded flat to pillow her weary head. She will be okay. For now.

A few years ago I was on a weekend in London, and the day that I was supposed to return to mainland Europe with the Eurostar, a terrible blizzard blanked the tracks and all trains were cancelled. Had to scramble to find a hotel at the last moment (not as easy as it seems!), contact my boss and co-workers that I wouldn't be at work Monday and had my tickets rebooked for a coach so I could leave the next day. The coach ride took an entire day, but I was happy to be home!
I remember walking to school in my snowpants when the snow was over 3 feet tall - when I got there teachers were confused to why I was there.

Not really much stories about the winter - hungary nowadays have very late winters. Usually it's just cold and noone expects when everything's ice covered and slippery :D

Lately, heavy winters are not a serious problem for where I live, mostly because snow removal services improved greatly. But years ago, my whole family had to clear the snow out of at least 400 meters long part of the road (public road!) to be able to move a car out of our yard. There were many days I haven't been attending school because of a snow too.
The train delays in my country in winter are always terribly high, storm or not. :/

I have two.. One time we went to a friends hotel to promote our young wines, and due to the conditions and remote location we were not able to leave for several days.. Other time, we wanted to go mountains to ski and celebrate new year... there was no snow.. :) I have fond memories of both.. :) thank you

Most of my memories of winter storms are from schools being closed and happily going to play outside in the snow.

Just memo, that climate is really changing. Here in north-eastern Poland winters always been long, cold and snowy, at least as I remember from my childhood, white christmas was sure. Sledging, snow fights...and now? Last 10 years, I think there were 2, maybe 3 white christmas...

We had a really bad ice storm a couple years ago. A lot of us had no electricity for weeks. My family and I went to a friend's house and we tried to keep warm by the fireplace. It's sorta creepy for me too 'cause 'The Day After Tomorrow' would always be on the TV when I was younger and it reminded me of a scene where they had to keep a fire going in order to survive. On the plus side, though, the scenery was absolutely amazing!
