Won this earlier, can confirm.

I liked the song. It's been a while I've not listened melodic/symphonic metal (I'm never sure how to classify all these metal subgenres), it's time to switch my playlist again. The video is so laughable but the music fitted my taste ^^

this is powermetal :)

My bad, thanks for the info ^^
But I will probably never be able to classify the songs I listen by ear/myself.
I found the full list, there are even more genres/subgenres than I thought!

There is a lot of them and I can't really sort most of them myself, I just know some basic signs of some more generic genres that can help to sort it out.
To be more helpful, the Lordi in cart 3008 is Heavy Metal/Hard Rock like Twited Sisters or Kiss or Accept or Alice Cooper (tho you can say this one is a Shock Rock),
Ad Infinitum in cart 3007 is symphonic metal like Nightwish.
This one, Angus McSix is a powermetal like Powerwolf or Sabaton
Amon Amarth in cart 3010 is Melodic Death Metal and they are kind of one of the bigger Melodic Death bands, so they are usually used as an example :D

I knew Lordi (because of you!^^) and I mentally put it close to Iron Maiden, so I wasn't so wrong? ^^
With the song in cart 3010, maybe I would have wrongly put Amon Amarth in the Death Metal genre without adding the 'melodic'. No, there is enough 'melody', maybe I wouldn't have 🤔😋
Symphonic metal is more about the voice I guess?
Powermetal is harder to figure, in my opinion.
I checked one of my favorite (and only reference): In Flames, I was sure it was melodic death metal but it belongs to several genres xD
I guess it can be the same with the others 😅

I would say putting it to Iron Maiden was a good assumption!
I am not fan of general death metal, but the band Death is a very generic and known Death Metal band. I am pretty sure you'll see the difference in no time compared to melodic :D
To comment on the In Flames, yes, I too would consider it as melodic death, so you were correct there.
Symphonic metal is indeed about the voice, I can say it's an opera of metal.
Powermetal is a thing that makes you want to jump around, fool, have fun, sing along. The texts are easy to remember and music aspects are repetative. here are some more songs, once you listen to them more deeply you'll see the connection in the genre. A good indicator is, that they usually do not take themselves that seriously.
Powerwolf - Sainted by the Storm
Powerwolf - Faster than the flame
Grailknights - Turbo boost
Grailknights - Muscle bound for glory Here is even a collaboration with Angus McSix from a song in this cart. He used to be a singer in a band Gloryhammer but there was some beef inside and they kicked him out, so he created his own band.
Nanowar of Steel - Valhalleluja
And well, one band that takes themselves a bit more seriously, singing about historical events, especially wars Sabaton - The Last Stand

Death, a fitting name ^^ But I find it quite soft in the death metal genre. It made me think of a death metal version of Metallica. In my opinion it has the same kind of rythm. Or maybe I was listening harder stuff that didn't even belong to the death metal genre but another subgenre ;)
I'll keep in mind your definition of powermetal. The fact that they don't take themselves that seriously can be either embarrassing or hilarious xD
But I just can't put this song, Nanowar of Steel - Valhalleluja, with the other powermetal songs. In my opinion, it's too much of a mix of various influences.
Sabaton, I remember seeing it in the Europa Universalis IV DLC. It was quite unexpected.

the other one you might be thinking about is black metal. My GF is into it a lot. That is some strong shit as well

Maybe or not. Now, I think I have phase for listening music. Sometimes I find something I liked too 'aggressive' (I don't find better term) and switch back to a softer genre. Or the opposite. I guess I'm more open to metal currently and find it not 'aggressive' at all.
Not that you care, but to figure out the different kind of music I can listen: the last thing I've been listening.
With all these new songs, it's the time to renew my playlist for awhile ;)

music songs are great too, I like some anime music as well :D :D

It's been age since I watched anime. I remember I liked some too:
Ergo Proxy - Opening
Blood Lagoon - Opening
Death Note - Opening 2
And of course, there are also game soundtracks ;)
Edit: I'm so slow to notice it, I've just understood why ANGUS McSIX throw his hammer in Master Of The Universe... It was because the drama you both mentioned. It was like saying 🖕 without saying it.

I wanted to write game soundtrack but for some reason i wrote music songs... which now, looking back, is making me wonder what the fuck was I on :D
and oh my god you included Maximum The Hormone, it is my fav japanese metal band, thanks o death note actually. They made a new song for an anime Record of Ragnarok and I loved it, but they haven't realeased full song... yet, I hope
And yes, in the song, there are many references to his former alter ego Angus McFIFE of Gloryhammer. I.E. Glory left my hammer, now I wield the sword... or and my green has turned to gold...
He is basically kind of mocking Gloryhammer in it, and honestly? I am very much down for it, I do not think that he deserved how they treated him, played 2 or 3 festival shows with him in a peek of festival times, with many more upcoming, to wake up to a message on social media stating, that you are no longer the band singer nor member. Without explanation. Fans never got any either, some weird private messages from the members appeared on the internet, but that's been months of drama to catch up with.

When I listen music, I don't care much about personal lives of artists, mainly because I often barely remember the name of what I listen. Premade playlists don't help 🙄. ANGUS McSIX (damn, I've just noticed now, again, but the dude changed his name!) is too funny and his lyrics weren't offensive at all, so I totally agree with you. On the same page, I noticed that I already knew Gloryhammer. My english is bad, but not enough to not notice how unexpected it was to listen a song of metal about unicorns 😆. Since I watched the Master of Universe, I listen this kind of songs far more open-minded because it becomes far more obvious how they don't take themselves seriously 😉.

Powermetal is my favorite genre :) Though I don't know how I feel about Gloryhammer drama...
Beast in Black, Powerwolf and Alestorm are my favorites.

Alestorm is Piratemetal! That's something different! :D

Sure is, but Wikipedia seem to consider them part of the power metal genre too.

So it's not just me, even the connoisseur can be wrong :D
I will also try the groups you mentioned, thanks ;)
