Description

Under Leaves is a colourful, exceptionally pretty wimmelbilderbuch game. It doesn't have the randomization of Hidden Folks or the complexity of The Tiny Bang Story, but it's a sweet little experience in its own right.

Thank yous are always welcome, but if you'd like to answer a question instead: What words do you think are a lot of fun to say? ("Wimmelbilderbuch" is certainly one of mine.)

digging the artwork! thanks for the share.

Don't know Wimmelbilderbuch, but it brought to mind Lewis Carroll's wonderful made-up words... bandersnatch, vorpal, jabberwocky, and many more! :)

Hmm... random others just off the top of my head... indubitably... effervescent... acrimonious... milieu...

(One of my favorite more effective ways of forcing myself to fall asleep is to think of random disassociated words as quickly as I can... I feel like it keeps my brain focused on a boring task separate from any distractions while creating total nonsense... perfect for lulling myself into a dream state!)

Can't actually think of any particular favorite words though! :)

Effervescent is another favourite of mine, and milieu is pretty. :)

I think only german has something like a Wimmelbilderbuch, in english it is like hidden objects or activitx, so I also really like this german word

Hottentottenstottertrottelmutterbeutelrattenlattengitterkofferattentäter :D
It's a German word from a Polish anecdote written by Julian Tuwim. It means: a murderer of a Hottentot mother of a fool and stammerer being hold in a wattle trunk intended for holding kangaroos xD

Thanks so much, your taste is irreproachable

(It's a wishlist game)

I don't know exactly about fun to say (there are a lot, I guess... synchronicity... smorgasbord... sibilance... cornucopia, plethora, alliteration... or maybe I'm just listing words now), but when my German teacher asked our class what our favourite word in German was, I said "wahrscheinlich". I thought it was very German in its sounds and structure. I'd never heard of the word or concept of Wimmelbilderbuch before!

We Germans are known for our lack of humour, and as such, I have a hard time seeing Wimmelbilderbuch as anything but an ordinary noun, much less a source of great delight. I didn't even yet know that, much like Kindergarten became kindergarden, English also provides a 'wimmelbook'.

That's completely fair, although I have a German friend who shares my delight.

English loves to steal vocabulary from other languages. It's part of what makes it such a good lingua franca, I suppose.

I like to say 'snurch'.

It was used in the show Farscape, and it meant to steal something. For example, if you have a plate of french fries in front of me, I might say "I am going to snurch one of them!" .;)

I really enjoyed that series!

Wimmel books are crazy! I've looked at a few in my day...

As a German, I've heard Wimmelbild and Buch separately but not the two of them combined until today lol That said we're known for our franken-words (which make more sense than the English variation of compound words to me).

My favourite German word is Waldeinsamkeit, closely followed by Schadenfreude.
My favourite English word would be... hm... this is hard, what with all the loan words lmao. I sometimes have situations where the English word is the better fit but I can't think of anything right now. I'll get back to ya on that.

Das Gefühl der Einsamkeit innerhalb des Waldes. Feeling along in the woods. Depending on the mood it is either a feeling of solace or terror but in my case I kinda relish the feeling. Just birds and other forest critter but no humans around XD

I already feel a bit alone if I only have my cat collection around to feed, talk to, pet, and otherwise abuse. Don't think an isolated forest would be my thing.
Suppose that makes me less Lone Wolf and more Companion Cube.

Considering I handle 90% of the care of 3 cats, I'm at 2.7 and not yet crazy. Yay.

These were born together and haven't had the physical ability to produce offspring for some years. Their brother and mother both moved out to different places too, so the cat count went down over time (but my overall responsibility increased I guess).

Not looking to expand my collection as long as these are alive and kickin'.

fair enough, that was the main reason for my mum to have more than one cat at a time, siblings, haha. They've both passed on now though.

When I grew up we had two cats, brothers. One of them didn't chew food properly and didn't live as long as his brother (I think the older one was 17 in the end). I can recall their names, but not their precise cause of death, I'm ashamed to admit. ' twas 15-20 years ago.

Hexe and Herkules both died of cancer, though I had no idea at the time that non-humans can get it too. They had a good life until their final days though.
