If you want to write more than a thank you:
What's your opinion on dialects? Do you think they have a "hierarchy", or that they are all equally "correct" and important? Should everyone speak the same way or would you encourage diversity? Why do you think that?

not sure what you mean, different languages or different dialects of one language... but I think it is important to have a broad agreement on some universal language (like currently english) that everybody should speak, read and write (e.g. in research it would be ridiculous if research papers were published in hundred different languages but also in everyday situations - people visiting other countries should be able to easily communicate with locals and people should visit other countries)... while I do not see any harm in also speaking your native language or dialect, or any other, I think average person can easily survive learning 2-3 and more different languages during their lifetime and I believe there is beautiful literature, especially poetry or songs, that just cannot be translated well enough (a lot of words from one language do not even have a translation in others) so to enjoy them, you need those other languages... so I would say that everybody should speak their native language to conserve it for future, one universal language that happens to be english and as much other languages as the person like

I did initially mean different dialects of one language, but it's interesting to think about different languages as well! I mostly agree with what you said, I'm only a bit hesitant about the one universal language. While it would definitely make a lot of things easier if there was one language that everyone could speak in addition to their native languages, I think that the universal language could also kind of endanger the other languages, just because of its high convenience and importance. For example, what if the status of that language was so high that cultures would neglect their own languages in order to "master" the universal language? Or what if the influence of English on other languages gets so much bigger that even simple words which do have an equivalent in the other languages get replaced, like among young people? I don't think it's possible to find the one correct answer to all this, but to me it's really interesting to think about.

Also, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a long comment! And considering yours is still the only comment even after more than 500 entries, I'm adding you to my WL as a thank you :)

thank you! doing the same... it is a difficult question indeed, some would say that we could even sacrifice all languages to one universal for greater good (everybody understanding everybody) and what is interesting for me in such questions is comparing human race to depictions of aliens in games/movies.... you hardly see aliens of the same race/type speaking different languages or belonging to different nations based on what part of their home planet they inhabit... and nobody seems to see any problem in that... like it is kind of natural, that a race (in the meaning of alien race/human race) should speak one language and be part of one planet-wide nation... so who knows what (very distant) future holds
