The Mine-car chase sequence in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" was filmed at the Thurston Lava Tube in Hawaii. Due to the intense heat (lava temperatures exceed 1090 Celsius), the actors described the filming of such scenes as "a long slog", and the set as "a warzone". The producers had bought many mine carts for that sequence, but it turns out they only needed one at the end, which unexpectedly survived all the crashes, bumps, jumps and the unbelievable heat. They affectionately named the cart "Barbra", and redressed it as one of the flying cars in the Blade Runner's sequel.
