Would you act upon a (deep) affection born within just a few hours of meeting someone?

Sure, I could always use a friend.

I meant... a deeper affection. Thanks anyway ;)

That too, nothing wrong if they don't feel the exactly the same towards me, I'd enjoy their company anyway.

I want to. But I think it's a little difficult to do that within few hours.

Most likely not, but then again I am incredibly shy around people in general.

Yeah, but it isn't usually received very well.

"act"???
Impressions usually aren't bad, and usually are somehow accurate. But with the last new colleagues that arrived (and stayed for months) I discovered they all were very different than first impressions. Mostly based on the circumstances you met that person and the role and what they wanted to obtain from the place/event/or disposition on the moment you met them.
Usually is better to know them better before acting in any way. But if the act isn't hitting them, but something like wanting to become friends, partners or couple, better try to arrange a meeting and know better on other circumstance and trying to get other information about them. May be substituted or helped by checking their social networks.
