Hi, I believe it is mostly effective.
I had wanted to try to actually trap/identify bots. My thinking was that a few might be sophisticated enough to be able to "I understand" a simple "please do not thank me"... and so not leave their "Thank you". I thought that my little poem would be too much for them and so some would continue to thank me and I'd be able to blacklist them to keep them from entering my future giveaways.
The thank you HAVE gone way down, most giveaways get none. But when someone does put in a thank you, I check their profile. My suspicion at this point is that there is a language barrier with non-English speaking persons because at least half of the thank yous I receive are from people that I do not believe are bots... and they are seemingly not from the U.S.
I will continue using my text with an eye on this. Perhaps, I will at some point revert to a simple, "Please do not post thank yous".

I see, I see! And I think the more complex trap should be oki. My take is that if you can make a Steam account and join GAs, you can use Google Translate or other available translation tools.
