Titan! to whose immortal eyes
The sufferings of mortality,
Seen in their sad reality,
Were not as things that gods despise;
What was thy pity's recompense?
A silent suffering, and intense;
The rock, the vulture, and the chain,
All that the proud can feel of pain,
The agony they do not show,
The suffocating sense of woe,
Which speaks but in its loneliness,
And then is jealous lest the sky
Should have a listener, nor will sigh
Until its voice is echoless.

Lord Byron (1788–1824)

Mag die bome groen bly
en die sterre wit,
en mag daar altyd mense wees
wat mekaar sonder skaamte
in die oë kan kyk –
want die lewe is ‘n asem lank
en die sterre op die Anderplek donker.

Kitty can give a man pause
For she lives by her own set of laws
She’s the judge and the jury
And hell has no fury
Like Kitty’s retractable claws

I sense a mood for cat poems.

The three little kittens, they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear,
That we have lost our mittens."
"What! Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie."
"Meow, meow, meow."
"Then you shall have no pie."

The three little kittens, they found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, see here, see here,
For we have found our mittens."
"Put on your mittens, you silly kittens,
And you shall have some pie."
"Purr, purr, purr,
Oh, let us have some pie."

The three little kittens put on their mittens,
And soon ate up the pie,
"Oh, mother dear, we greatly fear,
That we have soiled our mittens."
"What, soiled your mittens, you naughty kittens!"
Then they began to sigh,
"Meow, meow, meow,"
Then they began to sigh.

The three little kittens, they washed their mittens,
And hung them out to dry,
"Oh, mother dear, do you not hear,
That we have washed our mittens?"
"What, washed your mittens, then you're good kittens,
But I smell a rat close by."
"Meow, meow, meow,
We smell a rat close by."

Not a poem, and I'm sorry about that, but one of my favorite quotes.

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do."

Yes; specifically, the seventh Doctor, as played by Sylvester McCoy. Those are the closing words of Season 26, the final season of Classic Dr. Who (1989).

Twitch is currently playing it on twitchpresents, but my advice would be do not bingewatch it for 12 hours a day for 21 days. :) If you do, you'll inevitably miss stuff or burn out.

There are so many guides out there. Some recommend old show, some say watch the new one. And it's told every doctor is different so you can start anywhere. Damn I don't know if I should watch chronologically, start with only the 2005 series or do what lol..

As a fan of the old version, and black and white movies in general, I would start with the 1st Doctor (Hartnell). All the doctors (so far) have tried (or so I've heard) to emulate some portion of Hartnell's portrayal of the doctor. My favorite doctors are Drs. 1 (Hartnell), 3 (Pertwee), and 7 (McCoy).

Maybe I should watch the new series as I'm not too much into the black & white picturisation.
(side question have you seen a movie called 12 angry men?

Side answer first: no I have not.

If you do not care for black/white TV, you could start with the 3rd Doctor, Jon Pertwee (my favorite doctor aside from Dr 1 (Hartnell). From Pertwee on, the show is in color. Hartnell & Troughton (#1 & #2) have some outstanding stories. Tom Baker (#4) is good, and Sylvester McCoy (#7) is quite good.

Then third doctor it shall be.

Side note : do watch that movie. Very intense. Best of the best in black and white

I shall look it up!
I think you miss some character development by not starting with the 1st Doc, but it is up to you.

Thank you for the invite! Going along with the traveling theme, here's something you may know and enjoy:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This is, of course, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost!
