I use google translator for other languages actually (not a bad tool).
As for States... Sigh... Honestly - нac нигде не ждут... (there's no equivalent in English with exactly same subtle meaning...)
I mean - some people come as refugees and live peachy, some have business and work hard and live well, some have good job (computers, med, law jobs pay more than well) and live really well too... But any of this doesn't come easy - there's enough people who were born here already and want their share of goods/money/etc, and so to get anywhere you have to be really good - or really lucky. Or both. Otherwise it's hard. And don't forget language and cultural barriers. I live in California - it's almost officially "immigrants' state", so here "outsiders" have it easier than, lets say, somewhere in central states. And after 15 years my English is not perfect - but not so bad. And still sometimes you run into people who just hate you for "taking" what they think should be theirs.
Though in a hindsight: for me it's still worth it, I'm not going back - at least here I have some measures of security that a lot of people in Russia and Ukraine can't even dream of.
