Good word! So I guess St Peter at the Pearly Gates takes the role of a psychpomp in the christian tradition?
(I am reading about how early christianity attempted to prove its credibility to the surrounding culture by emphasizing parallels, so naturally looked for a parallel to the Greek concept of psychpomp)

I don't think so, or rather the connection is weak, since St. Peter is traditionally depicted as just waiting for you to make your way there (and then often to judge if you're worthy of entry, or should be sent "elsewhere"), so not much of a guide. He'd be more comparable to a figure like Hades, adjudicating your ultimate fate (but not ruler of the afterlife, obviously). Christianity is also "compatible" with other notions of psychopomps, like the Grim Reaper (in some traditions, as an analogue of Charon) or birds escorting the soul to heaven, so again not much of a role for St. Peter there.
