It is not secret, I just don't know. Maybe next year I will get to some beach, so I will let you know after that. But till that day come, it is only about imaginations.

I tried surfing fairly recently and it was really fun, so I'd have to say that. The sand will forever be a problem though :/

It's not too dangerous, so long as you stay near reasonably sized waves, and there aren't too many people to crash into. Unfortunately there were a lot of people when I was given a lesson but we were all noobs so there was sort of a mutual understanding that everyone was going to crash into someone else at some point so everyone was really understanding.
I don't live too near a beach, probably about an hour away, but I've been staying with my godfather for a week and he lives fairly close to a beach.
The sand is only a problem because it gets absolutely everywhere, no matter what you do.

wear sandals :D also, a beach we go to has a foot washing thing, where you push a button and a shower a foot or so (0.3-0.6m) off the ground comes on to wash your feet and ankles. This means you have soaked, but sand free, sandals :D
